DH and I are having this debate. Do you think a just-turned 4 year old is too old to be wearing a pull-up at night during sleep? Otherwise, she is a perfectly potty-trained 4 year old. (And has been since the age of 2 1/2.)
I think it is fine. My DS still wears one. The doctor said this is perfectly normal until like age 6. MY DS hates it, but we have tried and he just can't stay dry at night..
Well, I guess it would depend whether she's waking up with a dry pull up every day (or almost every day). If so, then I would switch. If not, she's not too old to wear them to bed, IMO. I believe nighttime wetting isn't a matter of PTing, it's developmental and she may just physically not be ready to hold it that long. It also depends how much she's drinking right before bed, of course.

Okay good. My 4 year old still wears one and most mornings it's absolutely soaked. (She is really active and drinks a lot of fluid during the day and after preschool.) I've told her so many times that if she has to get up at night to pee in the potty, to do so. I leave the bathroom light on for her and everything, but she is so deeply asleep that she doesn't wake up. Hence the soaked pullups at night. This horrifies my mother-in-law.
I don't think 4 is too old. However, you might want to try her in underwear and she may surprise you. When DS turned 4 I decided to try him in underwear. The first few nights he had a few accidents and I would have to wake him up to take him to the potty, but then he got it and has been staying dry. He was soaking through diapers before that. I really don't think he would have ever stayed dry if I hadn't pushed him.
if she is wetting the bed several times a week then no she's not too old. Mandi was my bedwetter until she was about 7 or 8 yrs old...wore pullups until then.

My DD will be 4 in Jan and I am pretty sure she could make it all night if we put her in underwear, but b/c our bedroom is on a different level vs. hers we keep the gate to her room closed overnight. I dont want her trying to get to me down the stairs in the dark. The way the starircase is, I cant get the gate to work, so we have to put it in her bedroom doorway. Hence, she is locked in and cant get the the bathroom, so we still put her in pull-ups.
At some point, we realize we need to figure out this issue, but we arent concerned about it today.
Oh gawd. N wore Goodnights until 1st grade. And he had been day trained since early in his 2nd year of life. I thought we would never get him out of those things- but we did. My good friend's son is still wearing them and he's in 2nd grade. I wouldn't start worrying yet
I never thought I would have a kid still wearing them at four but like you said about your dd my ds is a deep sleeper. I've of course already tried limiting his fluids, I tried waking him up an hour after he went to bed, we tried underwear a few nights because he hates the pull ups..Now, I am just going to wait for it to happen naturally, unless he bugs me again about not liking the pull ups..

If it was my kid? Yeah, 4 y/o is too old. But if it was someone else's kid and it was working for them? No judgements at all.
So basically you're saying she's too old.
No, because I don't know your kid. I just know that for MY ds it would've been too old.
Granted, I only have one potty-trained child. Dd could end up being a totally different story. I sometimes joke that she's going to be the one in diapers until she's 4 years old just to teach me a lesson. ;-)
I'd say 5 or 6 years is too old. IDK. My DD doesn't wake up at night if she needs to go. If she's awake, she'll use the potty (wearing underwear or pull ups). It's not like she's choosing to go in them in the middle of the night. I'd guess it really depends on the kid and the situation.

Our pedi told us they don't consider it an issue until they are like 10.
She won't stop using one until you do. I think 4 is too old for a pull-up...which is a diaper.
