Does your toddler "get" the whole Santa thing?

So we've been reading books about Santa and talking about Santa to DS.  We've even been doing "Santa says 'Ho! Ho! Ho!'" (Which is amusing when you think about the fact that the kid doesn't talk at all...LOL)  I'm pretty sure he doesn't get it.  So for those on here w/ a toddler, does your DC understand "Santa"?  When did they get the concept?

  • I really don't think they "get" Santa Claus until at least age 3.  We are doing a lot of talking about Santa and pointing him out and smiling and waving only to get her accustomed to the way he looks so she hopefully will be cooperative when it comes time to sit on his lap for a photo.

  • Allison definitely doesn't get it and is a little freaked out the by guy.  Honestly, at this point I'm okay with that.  I mean, he is an old guy who wants you to sit on his lap and breaks into your house.
  • Nora gets Santa very much. I'm not really sure where it all came from. I doubt it could be her memory of him from last year. She started talking about it a couple months ago. She started telling me what Santa should bring her and she has been insisting on watching the Santa Wiggles DVD every. darn. day.
  • Last year Ryan knew what Santa looked like and would say Ho Ho whenever she would see a Santa. Actually, anytime she would see a man with a grey beard she would say Ho ho! This year I think she definitely gets it! She has been looking through the sales ads pointing out toys and saying "Santa bring this for Ryan?". We tell her if she is a good girl Santa will bring her some toys. Now if Sam is crying she will walk up to him and say "Sam be a good boy and Santa bring toys!". It is so cute!

  • Jack gets it. He talks about it all the time. He s excited for presents. He even wore his Santa hat to story time at the library this morning, lol. I think alot of it is his favorite movie, The Polar Express.

I am super excited about this year, he will be precious on Christmas morning!
