Plus size moms - need clothing advice!

DH really wants to get family pics done. I have successfully avoided the camera for some time, and as much as I hate to see my fat face in print, I'm doing it for him and DD anyway. It makes me sad that I don't have many pics of me and my mom when I was a kid.

Anyway, to the point. I really need shopping help. What would you wear? I can put DH in whatever, and wanted to do DD's Christmas dress. Any ideas would be greeat, and links would be even better!

Avenue.com has some cute stuff and you can usually find some good coupons for that site online. I got a sweater at Kohls. It's just a simple cream colored thin turtle neck that I'll wear with black pants and heels. Hubby will wear black or khaki pants with a nice dress shirt that has red, cream and black throughout and dd is wearing her Christmas dress which is a simple red dress, with white tights, and black shoes. We'll be doing shots from the waist up (at least this is the plan), so hopefully it'll look okay together. I buy most of my clothes from Avenue or Kohls these days.

I would probably wear a plain/no print top, with some sort of interesting collar, or a bold necklace... black pants on the bottom. with heels.

For pictures, simple is usually your best bet. Stay with a solid color and just dress it up with jewlery if need be. Kohl's selection has been pretty frumpy lately, but they do have a few sweaters that would look cute and you can wear them with jeans or dress pants depending on if you want a casual or dressy look. If you have a good coupon for Lane Bryant, they've had some really cute sweaters this season too- although as always, their stuff is insanely overpriced!

I'm bigger in the middle. What used to be a waist now just goes straight to hips. I hate stuff clinging to my middle, it makes me feel even more self conscious.

I usually do most of my shopping at lane bryant, and that's about the most i'd want to spend.

oh, and to the others, thanks for the avenue! I had never even heard of that store and upon looking, they have a store at my mall! lol wish I'd known that a couple years ago.

A dark, solid, long sleeve top is best. No stripes, and no small prints, although I had a picture done in a dark paisley top that I liked so prints aren't out completely. Dress nicely, but only as fancy as you feel comfortable in- if you're a jeans and t-shirt girl you're going to look happier, and therefore better, in a more casual outfit than in a suit or gown. You could do a black dress or a jewel tone top with black pants. Depending on your body shape, a v-neck might be flattering, or a scarf, and I would have some earrings of a few different sizes to try, too. Bring a few different options of accessories with you so you can show the photographer. And tell the photographer what you don't like about pictures of you. They know a lot of tricks and can pose you in a way that will minimize the problem. For example, if your face is too round or you get a double chin, you can hold your head certain ways so it's more flattering. The good news is that with digital photos you know right away if you got shots that you like. In addition to the family photo, make sure you get a photo just of you, too. It sounds like you don't plan to do this much, so a good shot just of you could be really handy for all sorts of uses.

Aw, thanks you are too sweet. I think I've added like 15 lbs since I saw you. oops.

I am very fashion challenged. And it's even worse after gaining some weight.

Thanks for all the tips, ladies! I'm going to rope in a friend and go shopping this afternoon. I'm always afraid of internet shopping because things look so different on me than they do on the models.

If tummy is a problem area, I don't know about this top. I love it and have one just like it, but every time I wear it I am afraid someone is going to think I"m preggo. It's not flattering on me post baby.
