  I'm having two showers one in CT and one in RI  and the mothers and siblings are invited to both.

  One of my close friends didn't send me a wedding invite because she knew I'd be on my honeymoon and unable to attend.  I was pi$$ed.  I just like getting mail once in awhile that's not bills!

  Definitly send it.  If you are worried about your MIL thinking she has to get you another gift you could always send her an email or give her a call and explain that your host just wanted to include her too, but she shouldn't feel obligated to send a gift since she's given you so much already.

  I'm not inviting any of my family that lives out of town.  Sort of the same idea, I know they are going to send me something, but I don't want to make them feel like they have to send more because they got a shower invitation.  That is just kind of how my family works.

  I would invite them.  Rather spend the money for the two stamps so that there are no hurt feelings.

  My mother and sister were not sent invitations to my bridal shower (DH's grandma threw it for me) and they were REALLY upset, even though they probably wouldn't have been able to come. I am really close to my family and they felt really left out of everything when they weren't even sent invitations. So YES! Send them the invites!

  Thanks ladies, I've added them to the list for my hostess.  I think you are right, better to invite them so no one feels left out!  Then I would feel horrible

  You should send an invited. If they can't come, that's fine. But at least they will know you included them.
