1st Trimester

ugh......joining the spotting club.

Been spotting on and off since 5 AM. Light pink once, brown ever since. I'm calling my doc @ 9 am because she said she wanted to hear from me if I had any bleeding whatsoever.

It really is so much easier to say "spotting is normal" when it isn't happening to you......I'm a nervous wreck.

  • I know how you feel. I was spotting at 5w5d and i was a nervous wreck. as long as you don't have cramping, id say its okay. but im no dr so call yours. im sure they can get you in for  US.

  • I had spotting with both this pregnancy at 4 weeks, and last pregnancy from 5-7 weeks. My doctor said as long as it is brown, it is ok. He said it is your body cleaning out all the "old blood" to make room to house the baby for 9 months.

Easier said than done, but try to relax. Keep us updated!

  • I've been spotting since the day after BFP. I got the usual speech from the nurses. Brown and mild cramping is okay, red or severe cramps are bad. It's hard not to worry though. I think I'll feel much better after we have our 1st U/S.
  • same boat... i might head to the ER today to just get a clear head you know? I have had the brown spotting and mild cramps for almost a week now. it's so hard not to freak yourself out! sending T&P your way!
  • Completely understand you being scared. I spotted immediately (day after I got my BFP and for about 4 or 5 days after that). It came back around 6 weeks and lasted a few days. Exactly what you are describing, pink at first then turned to brown. My Dr. wanted me to call with any spotting as well. They had me go home ( I was at work) and have my feet up all day and drink plenty of liquids. Luckily at my appt. 3 days later they saw no new or old blood and this week we saw the heartbeat. Take it easy and inform your Dr. Hope all is well.
  • i've been spotting for 2 weeks now.  been in for bloodwork, ultrasound, etc..everything is looking okay at this point, but i know how stressful it can be.  i know it's supposed to be old blood, but seriously, how much old blood can i have?  haha...anyway, just take it easy, keep in touch with your doctor, and i'm sure everything will work out.  best wishes!
