This is a broke week for us, so I had to throw together some sort of a dinner and it turned out alright. The chicken was a cheat - I used barbecue shake & bake. But, the pasta was all me and DH fought me for what was left in the pan:
Mac & Cheese coated w/ margarine. Stir in parmesan cheese, garlic, parsley, cayenne pepper, salt & pepper.
It was suprisingly good.
What have you thrown together that worked out awesome?
Re: (NBR) Accidental Gourmet
DH and I have had many broke weeks. One day we opened our fridge, and decided to just invent something out of the last things in the fridge (literally).
It was a shrimp scampi of sorts.
Shrimp, mushrooms, tomatoes, white wine, garlic, lemon, crushed red pepper, egg noodles, and butter.
It was soooooo good. And we didn't write down what we did, and can't replicate it just right. So sad. LOL.
I forgot to grab the ingredients for Frenchs green bean casserole, then another Bumpie was talking about theirs so I had to improvise.
Green Beans, can of 98% fat free broccoli and cheese soup, and some soy milk (vanilla) sounds gross, and is a really bad improvise, but going down easy enough.
I put 2 porkchops and a can of beef broth (that's all I had) in the crockpot this morning. Added some carrots and taters and served over wild rice. Suprisingly yummy!
