You're a wine lover. It's something you admit to missing during your pregnancy. You are invited to a wine tasting with friends and obviously since you are pregnant, you cannot drink the delicious wine from Napa Valley which is being opened for this occasion.
Do you go or respectfully decline?
Other deciding factors: it is a weeknight and you will have to leave early, you have to walk the dog and work out beforehand, the food being served isn't a favorite or even a close 10th, but friends will be there
Re: Wine lovers, I need help.
Skip it.
BIO
I suggested skipping it because it would put me in a bad mood watching everyone else enjoying wine.
A glass wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, that's true, but I'd be uncomfortable PG and drinking in front of others like that. No reason to invite judgement and controversy.
BIO
I think it sounds like you've made up your mind that you don't really want to go.
If I really wanted to see my friends, I would go and have the equivalent of one glass.
If I were you, I probably would decline since walking the dog and working out would completely cash me out for the rest of the evening!
Well I intend to have a small glass of wine with Thanksgiving dinner but am concerned (me, the wino! Concerned!!) that a glass two weeks in a row is too much. Also to be honest I'm scared some of the people there will look down on me. I know that's silly but I REALLY don't feel like defending my right to a small glass.
This is pretty much me, LOL. I told my husband I feel bad declining but I worry that watching everyone sloshing delicious Napa wine in their beautiful wine glasses will just make me resentful, and also I don't know how I feel about drinking in front of people who aren't close family i.e. who might judge.
OMG I want your OB. I haven't asked mine, I'm scared she'll tell me no glass of wine at Thanksgiving or Christmas!
Personally, I'd go and have a glass toward the end of the evening once you have food in your stomach.
I'm a HUGE wine lover (I miss it desperately) so I can relate. So far I've had 3 drinks since being pregnant - 2 glasses of red and 1 glass of champagne, all very small and weeks apart from one another (all in 2nd tri). I'm of the mindset that there is no harm in very limited intake... If a few glasses of wine over the course of a pregnancy caused FAS, the whole Mediterranean region would be walking around with eyes on the sides of their heads.
If you can't stand the thought of seeing others drink wine while you wait for yours, skip it.
I don't think I could handle it . . . I might break down weeping for the love my long lost friend WINE.
Just came back from my first SOBER VACATION ever, and it sucked.
I would go and have a few sips here and there
You could go as a professional wine taster (swish and spit)

We had to cancel our trip to Napa because I was pregant and in my first trimester. People still wanted us to go and I was like "Eff no."
I am not usually a wine drinker but there was wine with dinner at my aunt's and oh how I wanted some. I was told I could have a glass a night, if I wanted but I don't really like it that much to have any. I, too, would worry about what other people think. What is granny thinking over there when I have a glass of champagne at a wedding? I would be scared they would accuse me of child abuse. Good luck on your decision.
I'd go, and either take a sip of each or have a small glass of the group favorite...
or you could taste and spit, as many wine enthusiasts do at tastings ;-)
This. How often do your friends get together? Mine hardly ever do with such busy schedules so I would go but if you're not feeling up to it let them know and at least they invited you!
