  • I make puppy chow with chex mix cereal.  You melt peanut butter and butter together then cover the chex mix cereal.  Then you put powder sugar over it all.  Most people melt chocolate and cover it, but I don't add the chocolate.

  • Puppy Chow

    Ingredients

    • 9 cups crispy rice cereal squares
    • 1/2 cup peanut butter
    • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
    • 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar

    Directions

    1. In a saucepan over low heat, melt the chocolate; add peanut butter and mix until smooth.
    2. Remove from heat, add cereal and stir until coated.
    3. Pour powdered sugar into large plastic bag, add coated cereal and shake until well coated. Store in airtight container.

    Peanut Butter Crunchies:

    1 c Karo Syrup

    1 c sugar

    1.5 c peanut butter

4 c Frosted Flakes or Corn Flakes

    a dash of vanilla extract

Mix the sugar and Karo Syrup and bring to a boil. Let it boil for 1 minute.

Add in the other ingredients and mix well.

Spoon "cookies" onto wax paper and let them cool.

Notes: This recipe works best when you have all ingredients ready to go as it makes it harder to mix as it cools.

It's not the most attractive dessert but they are SOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!

ETA: Can be made with creamy or crunchy peanut butter.
