I just found out that because I can't get my fasting numbers under control that my doctor wants to put me on a low dose of glyburide at night only. Is anyone with GD or that has had GD been on this medication? I'm not finding the best information on it during pregnancy. What other medications have you guys been placed on? My number are always under 98 for fasting, but not under the 94 that is required. Just worried about going on the medication.
Re: GD - being put on glyburide
My doctor doesn't do the glyburide and just goes straight to insulin. Have you played around with your snack or tried walking at night to get the fasting numbers down? 98 is not terribly high when it comes to fasting numbers and if it has only been a short period of time, I would be tempted to ask if you can try some things to get it down yourself.
I had a similar pattern for about a week with fasting numbers (between 95 and 103) and they wanted me to start insulin. I did a lot of reading and decided that if it wasn't over 105, I could try some other methods. The Kmom discussion on the topic was very helpful and my OB agreed.
I was able to get it under control- of course some can't and the fasting number is the hardest to control with diet and exercise and if it had gotten worse, I would definitely have taken the MDs advice and gone on the insulin (or glyburide in your case.)
Here is the address of the Kmom discussion (sorry- don't know how to make it a link):

I was put on Glyburide at bedtime for the exact same reason - my fasting numbers were in the high 90s.
At first, honestly, I felt like I failed and actually cried at the doc's office but they explained that there's nothing I could have done to control it.
It's been fine ever since I started taking Glyburide.
