It turns out that it is not sciatica. I have a weakening in the joint of my pelvis and spine. They have me going to PT twice a week to strengthen this and doing exercises 4 x a day. Hopefully this will help and I won't be hobbling around in 4 months.

What I have sounds similiar. They called it a sacral dysfunction. In addition to the PT, I am wearing a sacral-iliac belt around my hips to keep the bones/joints in line. The pain was unbearable for a while, so I can live with the limping.
