We have a very simple bassinet from when ds was a baby. He slept in that until he was 2.5 months old and then we moved him to his own bedroom and to the crib. Oh, and he slept in our walk in closet (this baby will too). Sounds weird I know, but it worked best for us (since our bedroom is situated with the bathroom in between the bedroom and the walk in closet). DH makes too much noise during the night for the baby to sleep in our actual room :-)
instead of a bassinet, we're going to use a moses basket. its actually my one and only baby related purchase since i got a great deal.
my friend just had her second (both c-sections) and she highly recommended the moses basket. it was compact enough to keep near the bed for evening feedings and she loves the portability. she brings it to family parties, friends houses, etc. its easy and comfortable to keep the baby in when she's not holding her.
We have his crib in his room but in the beginning we will have a pack and play in our room with the bassinet feature so it's easy access for hopefully breastfeeding.
For the first few months of her life LO will sleep in a hand made cradle that BF's great uncle made. Besides the sentimental value/family tradition, she's sleeping in there so we don't have to put together her crib before we move again in May.
Pack n play with bassinet top in our room to start. We'll be moving when the LO is 2-3 mo old, so I'm debating getting any type of nursery furniture at all at this point. Just more to move.
DH is of the mindset that we already have a house full of stuff to move, what's a few more pieces of furniture? He may win me over by the end. We shall see.
LO will sleep in a bassinet in our room for at least 3 months. We only have 2 bedrooms and DS will still be in the crib in his room so baby will stay with us. Once the baby gets to big for the bassinet (DS was too big by 3 months) then we'll see about getting a crib!
We'll have a cradle in our room until at least 3 months, while we work on transitioning our daughter out of the crib into a big girl bed. Though if this baby is anything like our first, he or she will be sleeping in the swing for the first four months.
I'm going to start her out in a crib in her room. I think it will be hard for me to get used to her sleeping in the other room, but I will be in there throughout the night with feedings. I think it will be ok. I just want her to be able to sleep on her own in her own room.

This. But our nursery is right next to our bedroom, so I'll have easy access to breatfeed and soothe during the night.

We're doing a Pack 'n' Play. DH is in the Navy, and we'll be moving cross-country within 2-3 months of the baby's arrival. We'll wait to get a crib until we get where we're going. No sense buying one just in time for the movers to bung it up. They'll get plenty of chances with other moves.
DS slept in the mini Arm's Reach Cosleeper for the first three months. I really liked having him right there in the beginning. Baby #2 will use the same one.
Bassinet in our room until he's ready to move into the crib in the nursery - which is downstairs from our room. We've already purchased both the crib and the bassinet.
DD slept in all those things. In her crib since night #1 home from the hospital. Moses basket when traveling. Bassinet once or twice. PNP she napped in like 3 times when she was an infant. No interest. Wanted to nap in the swing.
Re: what will LO sleep in? crib/bassinet/moses basket

i'm getting one of the pack n'play's that have the bassinetts in them.
i'm choosing this because i'm staying with my mom to get on my feet and when i move out, i don't want to have a lot of stuff to move.
DS slept in co-sleeper in our room until he was around 6 months then we transferred him to his crib with no problems. Plan on same for this one...
