Moms who had their membranes stripped...

Re: Moms who had their membranes stripped...

  • Had mine stripped Friday, not in labor yet.  Basically during an internal the doctor goes up a little higher with 2 fingers and sweeps the area where your cervix attached to the bag of waters. Uncomfortable but not too painful. I did have some cramping but no bleeding after.

  • Can you enlighten me on why they usually strip membranes??

My OB said he would so that he can deliver me before he goes on vacation (lol).

  • they do it because it can sometimes start labor.  In my experience it didn't, but if your close it might...

  • I had mine stripped Thursday and it didn't work.

I am going to ask to have mine stripped again tomorrow.

    I hope it works.

    Labor dust to all!

  • I had it done twice (38 and 39 week appointmet) with DD#1 and it hurt like hell but did nothing. I didn't end up delivering until 40 weeks 3 days. There is always a chance that when it's done, your water will break.
