Why do people quote the original post?

Why quote the original post especially if it is a long one (more than a paragraph)? Also, especially if you are not going to highlight something in the original post that you are responding to? Just respond. Everyone read the original post and knows that you are replying to it. Don't quote the whole dang thing to where it takes up half the screen. Pleeeze! It's ok if you want to take out a line or two of the op and quote it, but not the whole thing! Sorry, just had to get that off my chest.

Do what you want, its a message board.
Now they can be shortened if it is like 5 responses in 1 post and it takes a minute to scroll through. Basically it just helps people know wth they are talking to or responding to.
Thanks Lyse and thanks to the other ladies who responded similarly. I just assumed I was getting called out, because I had just done that with a lengthy post in the MIL vent a couple of times.

Laporoscopy March 30th- diagnosed with mild very endometriosis
IUI #3, 10/10, 2.5mg Femara BFN!
Hip Surgery 12/10 and forced TTC break
Diagnosed with gluten and dairy intolerance 12/10
June: TTC with TI and 2.5 mg Femara
IUI #4 & 5 Summer/Fall 2011 with Femara. BFN
11/11 Diagnosed Compound Heterozygous MTHFR- 7.5 mg Deplin
IVF #1 take 1- cancelled due to cyst
IVF #1 take 2- ER Aug 29, 35 retrieved ET Sept 3- 1 beautiful embryo transfered. 11 frozen embryos (AKA snow babies)
