  mine tomorrow will be internal.  i have a fat tummy so i'm sure i won't get on the regular way for awhile...

  Internal will give a better picture. They might start with external and if it's doesn't work out, go to internal. Every place is different, depends on your doctor or u/s tech. GL! How exciting!

  6w u/s was internal for me.  At 6w all we saw was the gestational sac and the yolk sac.  At 7w we saw the heartbeat but was measuring 6w5d, so don't get discouraged if you don't see a heartbeat right away.

  It will likely be an internal. Your uterus is still tucked down in your pelvis (and will be until around wk12) making an external u/s difficult.

  I had a vaginal at 8 weeks. Went in today at 10 weeks and they said they still like to do vaginal's because it is still hard at 10 weeks, but we were able to see baby.

  They tried both.  Couldn't do external since I managed to throw up all the fluid I had been drinking (they ask you to drink 5 8 oz. glasses) the hour before my appointment.  I got to three glasses and then had to run to the porcelain goddess.  My advice: avoid early morning appointments if you have m/s.
  

  So only internal was do-able.

  I'll be expecting an internal then.  I guess that's better anyway at this stage.  Did any of you have spotting or bleeding after an internal?

  They warned me about possible spotting, but I haven't had any after this or sex...one of the ways I'm lucky.

  If they told you to drink 32oz water an hour before appt time then they'll try external or both, if they didn't then only transvaginal.

  DD1 born 5/24/10.

  Missed M/C at 14 wks Feb 2012.

  DD2 born 5/14/13.

  Missed M/C at 9 wks July 2015.

  Expecting someone new 4/17/17.

  I had mine last week, and it was internal. They said they could get a much better view this way, so I didn't mind.  Have fun!
