Speaking of Christmas, anyone not bothering with a tree?

I'm usually all about the Christmas Tree, but this year I'm not really feeling it yet.  We don't normally get one until after Thanksgiving so maybe I'll change my mind when the time comes closer.  I'm just not feeling like moving furniture around to make room for it, dealing with the almost 2 year old getting into it and with me being due on the 28th, I just don't know if I'm feeling up to it.  Not to mention the clean up (can't stand fake trees livign in the evergreen state) and take down after Christmas.

Re: Speaking of Christmas, anyone not bothering with a tree?

  • I would love to skip it, but having three kids in the house means that I can't. My two year old is already into Christmas this year.

  • I don't think we are.  Or at least I don't want to.  I'm due Feb 4th and don;t feel like decorating a tree this year.

If DH wants to...he can do it all on his own.  Including clean-up!

  • We're not putting up a tree but that's cause DH doesn't want to! Sad We'll be at my parents for xmas anyway so I guess it's nice that we won't have to come home and take it down afterward!
  • I am torn about this because this could be our LO's first Christmas.  She is due Christmas Eve.  Anyway, we haven't decided yet.
  • I'm putting our tree up the weekend after Thanksgiving. I love Christmas too much to not put it up. DH has already promised to take it down if LO comes early (I'm due 2 weeks after Christmas) and we need room for baby things.

  • We are also real tree people! We talked about not getting one but we decided to still get one. I know that part of the reason I want one is because I think it will make the time go a little faster!! I also don't have a two year old that I have to worry about getting into it. If I did I would probably have made a different decision.

I know the take down will be a PITA but I think I still want one. We are not doing any outdoor or indoor additional decorations like usual. Only the tree and a wreath I bought from a boy scout! ;)

  • Now more than ever I'm excited for our tree!  Yes, it's a lot of work, but every year I feel like I hardly enjoy it since we're gone all day at work and then we're out of town for the actual day.  This year I'll actually be home to enjoy it so I'm especially excited to put it up!  Plus when people come to visit us after the baby's born, the house will look so nice with the tree and decorations.

  • lol we have an evergreen tree growing in our yard (I know...we live in florida...it's kinda weird) so we are going to decorate that tree and put up decor in the house...no furniture moving!

  • DH didnt want to put one up this year considering my due date knowing that i would be tired but there is no way that is going to fly. I agred that we dont have to decorate anything but i want my tree! and not only am i getting my own tree but i help put my parents tree up every year too. it just wouldnt be christmas without one, regardless of if im due the next week or not.

  • I could never skip putting the tree up. I love christmas and decorating! I am thinking about putting the tree up this weekend!

  • I normally LOVE to decorate for Christmas, but this year I would do anything to skip it!  I'll be induced either the week after Christmas or 2 weeks after and I am on bed rest until then.  I don' t know how we'll get the tree up, much less get it down and put away before LO gets here.  However, with a 4 year old in the house I just can't let it go.  She would be so disappointed if we didn't have a tree.  I can't let that happen!

  • we are still waiting to move into our house, so right now there is no room in our apartment for one with all LO's things around.  So if we move in before xmas, we might put one up, but not if we are still here
  • We were planning on having one, but I think it might make me nutty having it up right before I'm due and having to deal with cleaning all the crap up. We might opt just for mantle decor and stockings this year. We'll see...

  • Normally I'm very into decorating for Christmas, however, this year I would prefer just to spend my time and energy getting the apartment ready for baby.  But DH really wants it so our compromise is that he has to put everything up and take everything down.  Especially since we usually take down after the new year and baby is due Jan. 11th.
  • I'm skipping decorating this year since LO is due end of Jan. I feel like it would be one ore thing to have to clean/organized too close to his due date. Next year for his first christmas for sure decorating all out again
  • I'm actually looking forward to the tree this year more than usual.  Normally, we're out of town for Christmas.  But, since my EDD is Christmas Day, we'll be in town this year.  It will probably be the only year that will be the case, so I kind of want to make the most out of decorating this year.  Plus, I want some pics of our Christmas baby by the tree!
  • This is our First Christmas in our new home, and I am truly looking forward to getting a real tree up. We'll probably start as soon as we get back from our Thanksgiving trip, but DH suggested to start decor inside before Thanksgiving so it won't be too overwhelming.
  • I made a deal with myself.  Normally I put about 300 little tiny glass bulbs on the tree and it takes several hours to decorate and undecorate.  I told myself that I would put up a tree this year, but I'm buying a box of 50 big ornaments and that's all.  I can't see spending the time putting all the other ones on.  It drives me crazy when I'm not pg :)

  • I'm due Jan 5, and we are totally putting a tree up this year.  I figure, i'm going to be home a lot in December, so we'll have lots of opportunity to enjoy the tree.  Our shopping is almost done, because i wanted to avoid the December mall crowds.  I also think if i need help putting up or tearing down, family would probably be willing to help this year. I just think it will totally be a memorable christmas since i'll be so close to my due date.

  • Neither of us want to move the furniture around since we're doing enough moving things around getting ready for baby. BUT neither of us can imagine NOT having a tree for our first pregnant Christmas.  So we got a little one (2 ft or so I think?) to put on one of our end tables and we're going to put our most treasured ornaments on it.

  • We have a 3 year old in our house and if I even mentioned not putting up a tree, my DH would think he married a monster. Plus I like decorating a tree.
  • My dog will pee on a real tree, so I bought a fake one last year. It's a little 3 or 4 footer that I put up on a table. I'm not really into the holidays much, but I did like my little tree lol

  • we've decided to have a little tree a small 3 or 4 foot tree that can sit on a table. We figure it will be more manageable between ornament put up/take down and lack of furniture moving. That way we wont miss the Christmas feeling.
  • I hear ya.  I'm due on the 29th and cringing at the idea of moving furniture, putting up & taking down the tree, etc.  I usually love to decorate for Christmas, but I'm thinking of sticking with a few decorations this year & passing on the tree.
