I plan to breastfeed and everyone tells me to check out my local La Leche group.
They have meetings every other monday, and the site says that it is for help and basic information.
Has anyone gone to a meeting? or plan to check them out?
?
I may go with a fellow pregnant friend... doesn't hurt to get some information right??
Re: La Leche classes/meetings
I am glad that my local La Leche league meetings at 6:30 pm at the local hospital.
However, I just took a breastfeeding class at the hospital I will be delivering at. One of their lactation consultants gives the class every Tuesday. If you can't go to a meeting with your local La Leche league, then perhaps check out the hospitals in the area?
DS #1 born January 2010. DS #2 due June 2014.
I haven't gone yet but I'm planning to. I know the lady who runs the group out by me and she has already been a huge wealth of information!
I would suggest picking up their book "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding"...its kinda wordy and there's alot that could be cut out of it (seems like theyre trying a little too hard to convince people to bf). I am about 3 chapters in and there's some useful info and great step by step sections.
I say go. If its weird or over the top for you, no harm done just don't go back again. I'll let ya know what I think of it after I hit the meeting-I think its this week.
I totally forgot about looking this up. Thank you!
Now I know there are about 20 locations in the Houston area and surrounding areas. I may just go next Monday to the 7pm.
