I have two nursing bras already but I'm debating on whether I want to get more nursing bras or just get a couple nursing tanks! I have pretty small girls so I'm not too concerned with support!
I love love love my bras, but I bought a few tanks that I'm in love with too. Especially because I can just throw on a button up shirt or a hoodie and be done with it, bam. Dressed.
I got two bras and two tanks. I figure the tanks will get the most use those first few weeks when I'm around the house more, and at night. The bra's will be for when I actually, you know, get dressed in real clothing.
Tanks, tanks, tanks!! I lived in mine from Target, I loved them!!

I hardly ever wore my bras, even with real clothing! I was so comfortable in the tanks!
A great advantage to the tanks is that your belly/back doesn't become exposed while nursing. I still liked that feature when I was home alone. I nursed in a recliner in our living room, and the leather is cold on a warm back! Especially with winter coming, I would want that layer of warmth.

I have big ol' 38F's... unfortunately, just wearing tanks out and about doesn't quite provide enough support. I actually have several shirts that cross over and are great for nursing as I can just pull them aside- I tended to wear them often with DS, and thankfully still have them and they fit. Two of my maternity shirts are made the same way.

Ditto this... I'm wearing a Target nursing tank right now. I have not nursed in 6+ months. They're just so comfy around the house.
Having a few bras is definitely a good idea, but tanks are way more versatile. Also, since you're buying before baby gets here, tanks generally fit a range of sizes, which is good when you don't know how big/small you're going to be.

I'm getting tanks, then I'll get bras when my boobs settle into their next size. I like the Old Navy ones where you have a lot of coverage above and below your nipple.

I liked having some of both. The tanks are nice because when you lift up your shirt - no one sees the pouchy post birth belly - so you feel more comfortable w/ visitors - at least that's my opinion. Once I got more comfortable w/ breastfeeding - I enjoyed the bras. I'll assume you are due in winter - so the tanks may keep you warmer and they are great for nighttime pj's to keep those nursing pads in.
If you have to get either I'd go with bra's. But, that said I'm not getting either. I bought all that stuff with my first baby and found out it's just easier to pull down the top of my regular bra or tank and nurse. That flap really wan't necessary for me at all and even if it was there I seldom unfastened it.
I'm all about the tanks!!! go to www.glamourmom.com and get the nursing bra long tank! ITS EFFING AMAZING!!! its long enough that i can wear it right now, at the peak of hugeness. i wear it because its supportive and comfy, but will definitely be the best for nursing. it has mesh for the nursing pads and everything. SO happy with my buy.best thing... no underwire.
