Where will you or have you delivered and why?

Wondering where everyone is going to deliver or where you have delivered and why?

Re: Where will you or have you delivered and why?

  • I delivered at Southdale it was to closest, my ob delivers there, & I was born there :) Sadly the Dr (my ob) was unable to deliver Aiden becuse he is the Dr who delivered me ( how cool would that had been)

  • I'll probably deliver at St. John's in Maplewood. My clinic (Generations Womens Center) delivers at St. Johns or St. Joes. I'll probably tour St. Johns soon to make sure we like it. We live in Blaine and I didn't want to deliver at Unity and had heard good things about St. Johns and St. Joes.

  • St. Francis is Shakopee
  • I delivered at St Joes.  I was orginally going to St Johns, but then I started to have complications and didn't like what was going on at my orginal clinic.  I wanted to have a relationship with my doctor that was going to deliver my baby.  So then I changed to a different group and my choice was all the hospitals.  I chose St Joes as it has the lowest csection rate in the state and the good things that boards like www.mothering.com have said about the OB nurses.  I love that they have waterbirths and work with midwives so often.  They were also very experienced at L and D.  I have nothing bad to say about the place.
  • I will deliver at the new Maple Grove Hospital that opens at the end of December.

  • St Joe's and I agree with all of the above. I didn't really have a choice as that is the only  hospital my doctor delivers at, but I was very happy with my experience there and looking forward to the next.
  • I have the choice of Regions or St. Johns.  I'm going to tour both, but I am thinking Regions because it is 20 minutes closer than St. Johns and I have no clue what the weather will be like the first week of Feb.  I don't want to drive 30 miles in a snow storm to get to the hospital.

  • I delivered at methodist for location and for their midwives group.  However I got transfered to ob since I was high risk but never again.  stupid freakin nurses there are evil (except dee who was awesome.)  I'd go to St. Joe's if I could choose that for the next one but it's so far away for me.
  • I delivered at North Memorial because it has a Level III NICU. But "if" there's a next time I'd like to deliver at the new Maple Grove hospital.
  • I'll be delivering at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. It's the closest hospital to us, they have a brand new birthing center and I work there on call so I know some of the staff.

  • I delivered at Regions, and loved it.  The Midwives I dealt with were awesome, and the nurses during and after delivery were the best ever, super nice, and friendly.  I won't be having anymore kids but if I were, I'd go back there in a heart beat...plus their new L & D and birth suites are very nice.
  • I delivered at HealthEast Woodwinds.  I live in Woodbury so it was an obvious choice for me due to the location but I had also heard wonderful things about the staff.  The staff was great and the rooms were nice.  They do have a room if were interested in waterbirthing.  The only downfall was that they don't have a special care nursery since DD was a preemie (and I had no complications in pregnancy).

DD transfered to St. John's because of the special care nursery so I transferred there with her.  The staff was great there too.  I especially thought the NICU staff and neonatoligist was wonderful.

With all the being said, we will be going to Woodwinds again the next time around.

  • St. Joes. Loved it. I wanted a natural waterbirth which didn't happen but I still really liked it. And it is like 5 min from me.

St. Joe's is like 5 minutes from me as well, so it is nice to hear good things about it!

  • Delivered at Regions, loved it, and wouldn't go anywhere else. The nurses were all great, the food was great, they were very understanding and accomodating. I really like the midwives there too. I ended up with a c/s (breech), and the OR staff was great as well. I live in Apple Valley, delivered in January, and still refused to change to an AV clinic and hospital because I wanted to deliver at Regions!

  • Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.  Like PP said, they have a brand new birthing center that is FABULOUS - jacuzzi tubs, rain showers, flat screen TVs, surround sound speakers....lots of comfort!

It's about 20-25 minute drive from my house.  We're in labor for so long though, I figured the short drive was worth it and it was unlikely I wouldn't make it there in time.  I've heard great stories from friends and coworkers that have delivered there too.  I've been doing my prenatal care with Western OB/GYN and that is where all of their doctor's deliver.  I love every doctor that I've worked with from there so far.

Originally was going to deliver at St Francis (< 1 mile from my house), with prenatal care at Park Nicollet in Shakopee, but I wasn't pleased with the hospital ammenities/tour and my doctor was a witch.

  • I delivered at St. John's and loved it.  I had a c/s since DS was breech.  We really liked all but one nurse.  Our room was huge.  I will definately be delivering there next time.

  • Delivered DD at St. Joe's and looking forward to delivering this LO there too, for all the reasons listed above and many more.  I have nothing but raves for all things HealthEast (which is significant coming from someone who works in the medical malpractice field).

  • I delivered at Regions.  Loved everyone I encountered, but I did end up with a c-section so I was, overall, disappointed.  When researching I found this post, which definitely factored into my decision making:

  • I delivered at Unity in Fridley and I actually had a good experience.  I had my choice between Unity and Mercy.  Chose Unity because my mom and several other people I know work there and because I was born there.

I loved loved loved my OB and he made things go smoothly.

  • I delivered both times at Fairview Northland in Princeton.  It was closest to my house and I didn't want to go all the way to Mercy.

I liked it except for one nurse who we asked to avoid this time around.  I liked that it was a small/secure hospital.

  • I delivered at Fairview Southdale and had a great experience for both me and DD, who was in the special care nursery for 3 weeks.
  • DD1 should have been born at Mercy in *** Rapids but I couldn't stand the dr and I have never been a fan of Mercy Hospital.  I delivered her at Unity Hospital in Fridley by the oncall dr at the time.  DD2 was born at Unity by the great dr I was using from Fridley OB/GYN.  I saw the same dr (Keith Wenda) with DD3 but I ended up delivering at home.  If labor had been longer she would have been born at Unity, also.  We went there after she was born and stayed for 24 hours.  I think Unity Hospital and it's staff is GREAT!  =)  (Though giving birth at home, in a bath, listening to everthing my body needed was the most wonderful and natural experience ever!)
  • I have a choice between St. John's, St. Joseph's, and Woodwinds.  My hubby thinks I should deliver at St. John's since it's only two blocks away,  I think it would be awesome to deliver at St. Joseph's since that is where my hubby was born.  We're gonna do the tours and decide from that.
  • I had to choose between Mercy and Unity, and chose Mercy because it was closer for us.

  • I will be delivering at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. They have a new birth center and will soon have one of the only level III NICU's in the area
