White crib bedding? Convince me different?

I am thinking I prefer to get a white or creme colored very plain crib set. Is this weird? LOL  They are so hard to find?  Is there a reason why all crib bedding is colored and patterned? I mean I get that it 's a baby, nursury and that is cute and fun, but I rather have a plain crib pallatte to then add accesories to that are colored. Ladies if you are already a mom, would you say that the crib sheets get stains often? Is that why colors and patterns are better?

Last question, is it possible to buy bumpers and sheets seperate so that I can maybe not be so plain, but not super patterned?

Ok thanks for any advice!

This is the only thing close to what I am looking for, a little expensive.

Re: White crib bedding? Convince me different?

  • I'm by no means an expert and I have no children of my own...outside of my body (lol), but I have plenty of nieces and nephews...I would think white or a light bedding set would be a bad idea because it could get really dirty. Stains such as baby poop, throw up, etc. wouldn't look very nice with it!

    GL!

  • Have you ever witnessed a diaper blow out? Tried to clean up baby spit up (especially formula fed)? DD had blow-outs in bed at least once a week. She was a MAJOR spitter. Her sheets still look new but they are bright and patterened. If they were white I'm sure that some would have been considered a lost cause and thrown away. Places like PBK will sell bumpers, sheets, quilts seperately.

  • the white might stain but you could get in expensive white from target, walmart, babies r us or a similar store.

Stains might be bad but you could get invest in a good stain release and bleach.

  • i have all white bedding for my ds, and i'll either reuse that or get more of the same stuff for the next (haven't decided if we're moving ds to a twin bed or getting another crib).  everything gets bleached, i've never had a problem (even though most of it says non-chlorine bleach) and nothing has even one stain on it.

i got a white bumper from carter's, a white ruffled crib skirt (don't remember where i got it honestly, and they're hard to find / expensive in anything other than ruffled), and white sheets from jojo (they're SUPER soft).

eta:  omg, don't spend $450 on crib bedding.  the set you linked is really cute, but $450?  eek.  i spent about $85 on a crib skirt, 2 sheets and a bumper.  that set only comes with one sheet, you'll absolutely need at least one more.  2 would be a luxery (if the sheets i got weren't $20 each, i'd have more).

LOL thanks, I mean I was figuring this, but I just thought white would be easy to clean, but I know it wont really hide little stains.  And no I have YET to witness a diaper blow out, in due time I am sure that will be my life, diaper blowouts and changing crib sheets. LOL

I thought white would be easy to just bleach, then I thought maybe baby stuff cant be bleached, but I am sure there is baby safe bleach. Thanks for the store suggestions.

  • Yeah, there is no way I would get white bedding for a baby.

The spit-up alone is enough to deter me (and those stains can be tough to get out!!), not to mention the blow-outs (!!!) and even the pee-throughs.

  • the stuff i have says non-chlorine bleach, but i use it anyway.  nothing bad has happened to it at all.  i'm a freak about white bedding just so i can bleach it.  i love knowing that it's really REALLY clean, lol.
  • First off it is hard to clean.  Secondly it isnt very pretty to their eye.  They like colors as a baby.  Third that is a ton of money.  Seriously bedding is a big waste of money.
  • white or creme  colored will show stains more. If you don't mind this then go ahead and get what you want. I have colored and patterned sheets and they have stains from all the spit up and pee and nothing will get them out. It seemed like something that would bother me before DD arrived but now I'm just happy she's sleeping on clean bedding. I only have two sheets but honestly I should have at least five.

As far as I know you can buy bumpers and sheets separate. I like the bedding. I think it would look nice in a room that is full of color because it would pop. It will show stains more but if it's what you prefer I say go with it.

  • I've done foster care for a few years now and we use white sheets on our cribs. Its just so easy to throw them in the washer with some bleach.

  • I wouldn't spend $450 on the bedding, I know there is so much more I could buy with that money.  That so far is the only white I seen similar to what I am looking for. That is why I had hoped to buy separates.  Besides if its going to be getting stained, I would definitely be avoiding spending that kind of money unless it washed itself. LOL

wow and on sale to! Your right is really is similar and MUCH better priced. I just showed Dh and I said it is 350$ dollars cheaper, he says I thought that was the price for the crib. LMAO. I think I may have to get it, but now I kinda like the blue, so maybe wait three weeks to find out then buy creme or blue. THANKS again!
