Absent Minded? Trouble finding words?

Anyone notice this as a side effect of something, or part of their cycle?

I have REALLY been having a hard time with words this past week or two... almost on an hourly basis I'm digging around in my brain trying to find the word I'm looking for to finish a sentance, or trying to recall someone's name I totally know, etc.  (I'm actually getting kinda worried. Davez has even noticed it. )

Just curious if anyone else has noticed this and can blame clomid? progesterone? old age? lol.....

  • Stress, sleeplessness... that's what I blame my issue on (and the funny part, or not so funny part, is I'm a speech therapist... kinda creates a problem there :) ) It could be a hormonal thing as well though... those meds affect everything!!!

  • I have been blaming it on lack of sleep, stress and old age. I don't think my brain ever recovered from the shrinkage that happened while pg with DS.

  • I have the same issues and it is definitely worrying me.  I dont know what to blame it on but I hope it isnt a sign of something bad.  My grandmother has alzheimer's so I am extra aware of it.

  • Lisa - you're not on progesterone, are you? I've been taking a bit extra to hold off my period a couple more days, so I'm blaming that for now... but you?

I'm getting enough sleep so it's not that. Man, it's irritating!

ps - I worked with dementia residents for a long time... traditional alzheimer's does not onset until much much later. And even the early on-set variety isn't until 50-60, and presents much differently. So rest assured, we're just batty in other ways. lol.

    Gingko cocktail, dear? ;-)

  • I am not on anything right now except synthroid.  I am still BFing.  I am getting enough sleep at night but still always tired (my endocrinologist upped my dose of synthroid even though my labs were fine to see if it would help, it hasnt).  I really dont know what my problem is.  Maybe I should take vitamins.  Ginko?

I am not really worried about early onset right now, I am more worried about an indication of things to come.

  • I'm pretty sure that it's a s/e of Progesterone.
  • I've been like this since I was pg with Ava.  I thought it was just pregnancy brain, but it never went away.  I was actually starting to get worried.  I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one!

Last week I left my computer charger at a meeting, lost my car keys, lost DH's car key that I borrowed, and lost my debit card.
