has anyone's LO experienced Constipation ??

and I am not talking about the whole going 3-4 days between normal poops.

B pooped this morning for the first time in 4 days-  which normally would be a little long for him, but not a huge deal as it has happened before and we just end up with a massive diaper and he has discomfort from gas the last day.  Usually he is an every other day kind of guy.

Well this morning's poop was not normal-  It was thicker and had the look of some 'pellets' in it-  kind of like rabbit or mouse poop mixed in with peanut butter (sorry for the analogy). 

It wasn't rock hard, and it was not logs, but there were these little lumps.

Is this constipation?  Now that he went has it run it's course? (so is he now having a fresh start or should I maybe give him some juice (per ped last time he had not gone)). Is there something we should do?


He is EBF if that changes things.

 

We have a ped appt tomorrow afternoon so I will ask then, but wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this and what they did.

    we actually just had our first experience with constipation the other day.  he went 5 days and when he finally pooped it was more "log-like."  he winced when it was coming out and there was actually a little blood, which turned out to be a small anal fissure.  the pedi had us give ds 2oz of pear juice twice a day.  we have had 3 large explosions in a 3 day period and he seems back to normal now.  but, his poop wasn't like what you had described.  it doesn't mean that what you saw was abnormal, though.  sorry i couldn't be more of a help!  :-)

    Whenever DD gets constipated, her poo looks like that.

    once she went like that, was it back to normal??

    Yes.  We get that - it gets very thick when he's constipated. He finally is getting back to normal (pooping every day), but for a while he had been going 3-4 days in between, tops, and it hurt him to poop.  Pedi recommended 1 oz water/1 oz juice mixtures to help him out.  Apple juice, pear juice, white grape juice.  And we actually have to warm up the juice to get him to take it - gross!

    we are battling this right now!  we were told to do Karo syrup in water every few hours.  we started yesterday and still no results.  :(  i'm hoping today.
