I am going to see an RE due to my high TPO results on my thyroid blood test. Is there anyone else going through this? What was your treatment? How is it affecting your ttc? Thanks!
Did they do a TSH, T4, T3 and/or ATA (Anti-Thyroid Antibodies)? Were you dx with or do you have Graves or Hashimoto's? Do you know the actual numbers of the results?
I don't have a high TPO, but I have Hashimoto's disease, high ATA and high TSH if unmedicated. I would say based on my own experience that your TSH and TPO if due to graves or hashimotos can be controlled with meds and resolve that aspect of ttc complications once you are back in normal range. For me my ATA and TSH have to be controlled to have a healthy pg and even to get pg and carry to term.
If the elevated TPO is due to something besides graves or hashimotos then I don't have any experience or advice, sorry :-(.

Sorry user error. JI was diagnosed with Graves?s disease in 2006 and was on PTU for a year. My thyroid levels went back to normal. Since I have gotten off bc seven months ago, my cycles have been very irregular (21-52 days).
My T4 was 1.12, T3 was 132, T4 was 8.3, TSH was 1.38 all in normal range, but my TPO was over 600.
I?m glad that your Hashimoto's is able to be controlled by the medication. I will check out the website.
I just logged into my online lab access to check which tests they did for me. My ATA (anti-thyroid antibodies) was a combo of both elevated TPO and Thyroglobulin antibody. So with those elevations and a high TSH I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease and hypothyroidism, both are easily controlled with Levoxyl daily. Although you could take Synthroid or Armour instead of Levoxyl.

You know, my endo is insistent that I stay on BCP if we aren't actively ttc because hashi's can mess with your cycle. Is the same true of Graves?
I would guess that if all your other tests are normal that there isn't much they can do about the elevated TPO, that is only based on what I have read. My docs control my TSH, T4, and T3 and just accept that fact that my antibody levels are elevated because of the Hashimoto's disease. The RE does make sure all my thyroid levels are in normal range because they do believe there is a link between the elevated antibody counts and miscarriage, but I don't know that there is anything they can do about it. I will be interested to hear what the RE tells you.

I am interested to see what the RE has to say also. I have been doing research via google and am somewhat nervous due to the fact that there is a link btw the high antibody and miscarriage. I guess I just have to take things one step at a time, however it is frusterating as I am sure you know.
I am not sure about the cycles due to graves. I thought that my abnormal cycles were due to me coming off of bc. I have been on bcp off and on for 10 years, so I can't really remember what my cycles were previously. I will keep you updated.

Initially I started losing just by changing my eating habits, less fat and calories (nothing special) and adding 30 min of cardio. But true to form my body has decided that it doesn't want to lose any more weight. Very typical since my hashi's dx. I can't drop weight if my life depended on it.
I tried alli but had all the side effects no matter how little fat I ate. The alli nurses said it has something to do with a slow digestive track and needing to spread my meals out more. I am going to try it again with at least 5-6 hrs between meals they seem to think that will alleviate the side effects. Hopefully it will help. I am also going to add more exercise to my routine and see if I can't jump start things again.

Good luck with the weight loss! I have been overweight/obese since puberty and know how hard it is. I tried medifast before my wedding in May and was able to get down to 200lbs, but of course once I got back into regular eating, all of my weight has crept back on (I now weight 238.. and I'm 58")

Feel free to page me whenever. I pretty much live here or at least check in a couple times a day. Have you been ttc for a while or is your doc being proactive? If your doc is being proactive then you have an awesome doctor :-). Hopefully you don't have to wait to long to see an RE.
The miscarriage issue with the elevated antibodies has always bothered me as well. We have never gotten a BFP so we have never gotten far enough for that to be an issue, but it is always in the back of my mind. We have been on a savings break for a while so definitely no chance of a BFP given dh's dx ;-). When we start cycling next year I am sure it will be back in my regular worries.
Good Luck

Are you going to count your calories?
I did a 12 week course last year at a local university hospital all about nutrition. We met with a nutritionist, dietician and physiologist every week for 12 weeks. They said I should aim for a 1650-1750 cal/day diet. Alli says 18 g fat per meal based on my weight. So if I stick to cal target then my fat is well within the 18 g per meal. If I go beyond the cal target things get a little dicey.
I really need to lose more than 50 lbs but I am working on small goals. I am about 260 lbs and 5'4. Typically someone with my weight would get a lot more calories per day but my endo says I fall into a group of hashimoto's patients called weight loss resistant and that I have to be much more restrictive with my calories to lose any weight and work out 2x as hard as a normal person. It is daunting which tends to make me give up, especially with minimal results. Before Hashi's I was always 130-140 lbs, I gained 95 lbs the year they dx me with Hashi's and Hypo. The weight gain and exhaustion were my first clues that something was wrong but my doc kept blowing it off and telling me to eat better and exercise more. It was hard to be exhausted, exercising your butt off and still gaining tons of weight with no rhyme or reason. Once I was dx I had gained so much weight it just felt like a losing battle that I have never been able to win.

This has a little info about what the tests mean and what impact they can have on pg (far right column).
