RSVP vs REGRETS

in 3rd Trimester

Ok I have never in my life seen an invitation that had REGRETS ONLY...I understand the point...if you aren't coming please let us know...but don't people normally RSVP to let you know they are coming or bringing additional people with them? 

MIL wrote this in my invitations...I just found it odd...

    My mom has always been fond of this type of RSVP and uses it for everything....but personally, I hate it. Because it doesn't account for lazy people that don't take the time to make the call one way or another.

    Unfortunately, our generation has completely lost the ability to comprehend the oh-so complicated RSVP concept.

    No most people don't let you know they are coming but will call and let you know they wont be there if it is on the invite.

    I put RSVP on my SIL's baby shower invites I hosted for her and half of DH's family didn't RSVP to me at all. I had to guess who was coming to the shower and how much food we needed to prepare. I prefer RSVP so I know if there will be additional guests coming or not.

    I have used this before because I was tired of chasing people around for a response. Regrets only actually work!
    A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
    After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
    My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

    I use regrets only.  I have found more people will regret than RSVP.

    My mom does this on anything she has at her home.  You would be surprised at the amount of people who will tell you they are NOT coming.  This obviously works only if you don't need an exact amount for the number of guests.

    I always put Regrets only, because everyone always comes to the gatherings.  We have a really large really close family and I would rather get 2 phone calls or emails then 30.  There are a few people that we know wont come and wont call but we have to send an invite anyways.  I suppose you have to know who your audience is but it works out really good for me!

    I think it's easier to say Regrets Only.  Most people don't like to RSVP, even if they are planning to attend.
