I had my post D&C appointment on Monday and found out that the fetus was 69,XXY having an extra set of chromosomes and male. We are now setting up with our insurance to get approved for the genetic testing, we plan on doing it either way but would like insurance to help since it would be $1200 out of pocket. I am glad we have a starting point instead of being at ground zero testing everything. My HCG was also still high with the concern of doing a second D&C if it didn't decrease, but thankfully it finally dropped, still no bleeding though. I know its neat knowing the sex of an 11w fetus but I think I would have rather not known that part.
Has anyone else had this? Triploidy, I guess its pretty rare. My SIL is having genetic issues right now as well so I am crossing my fingers we are still able to have kids.

I am so very sorry for your loss.
Triploidy, although rare, does happen. The cases that I have seen have all been sporadic and the women went on to have successful pregnancies. I am surprised they are having you undergo genetic testing. Since it was XXY, it probably occurred from your ovum having 2 sets of all chromosomes and not splitting properly in meiosis. This is random and typically doesn't happen again.
Best of luck! And sorry again for your loss.
