First goose egg - help!

My LO took a tumble this morning and hit the side of his head on the corner edge of a dresser. He cried for just like 20 seconds and was fine, and still seems fine, but he's got a small laceration and a bump.

I have a call into my pedi and I know what she'll probably say - watch for signs like stumbling, increasing sleepiness, eye dilation problems, etc.

Frankly, his fall wasn't far and the hit wasn't super hard, but the fact that it was against a corner edge really has me worried.

Would you be worried?

Re: First goose egg - help!

  • Nope.  DS hits his head all the time.  The bumps and scrapes go away.  The worst we have had is when he fell into the entertainment center and got a bloody nose.

  • Nope, I would not be worried :) But the first time it happened to DD, I was SO upset!  Now that its happened several times I still always feel bad, but I know that she's fine :) She falls down all the time and unfortunantly she whacks her head a good amount of those times :(

  • Nope.  Kids fall a lot and they're a lot more resilient then we give them credit for.  My DS has had his share of goose eggs and he's fine.  If you notice anything unusual about his behavior in the next 24 hours then take him in but He's probably fine.  I wouldn't worry about it.
