I tested positive for Group B Strep, and I was wondering if anyone else on here has as well? The doctor put me on an antibiotic right after I found out (at 8 weeks). They then tested me again when I just went in (12 weeks), well I tested positive again, and my doc wants me to go on an antibiotic again. It just seems weird to me because I have read that some people will always have it and usually they check in the 3rd trimester for it, and I will have to be on IV antibiotic during delivery. Has anyone else had any experience with this?
Re: Group B Strep
I was tested at 36 weeks and am positive. I will need to have 2 bags of IV antibotics during delivery, they are for the baby.
For my understanding, it's not any infection YOU have but something the baby could get an infection for, so why they keep treating you I am not sure as you will just keep getting it.
Well, that's what I understood, it seems dumb for me to keep taking antibiotics for it.... I guess I will have to ask my doctor for further explanation! Thanks, ladies!

Yeah, I tested positive at 36 weeks. I was given an IV with antibiotics throughout labor. DS was healthy and there were no issues.
That is really unusual that your OB is giving you antibiotics right now... it's not going to do anything.
