i had some spotting off and on with DD and they pretty much said it was due to a sensitive cervix. This pregnancy twice now after a somewhat straining bowel movement i have had some spotting. the first time it was a bright red but only a few dots and one wipe and then went away. This time is was a dark pink and it lasted a couple of wipes but has since gone away. I have a call into the dr. and i waiting for a call back but i just want to see if anyone else has had this problem and what their Dr. said. thanks!
Re: vaginal bleeding after bowel movement?- (tmi)
I have an angry cervix, although I'm pretty sure it's the same thing. Basically the blood vessels in and around my cervix are inflammed and anything that disturbs them (sex, bowel movement, too much activity) causes them to bleed. I spot off and on, and have since I first found out I was pregnant. They said all I could do was keep an eye on it and if it was prolonged or heavy, to call them. If I start spotting, I try to drink plenty of water and just relax.
Are you sure it's vaginal bleeding? Sounds more like it's coming from your bum.
OP said what I was going to....that it was possibly rectal bleeding. Especially when it's SO bright red. Definately ask the dr but that is my guess as to the cause.
I had this - probably around 10 weeks. I saw my doctor and everything was fine - I kept mentioning the connection between the spotting and bowel movements, but he never indicated one way or the other that that was a potential explanation.
I had two-three instances of it over the course of a weekend, then maybe once again a few weeks later. He just said spotting can be pretty common and can originate for a variety of reasons.
Good luck - I'm sure everything will be fine!
Hey, you are not alone! I did this all through 1st tri. It did finally stop though once I hit 2nd try, unless now I have to go bad.... And I know it sounds crazy, but it really is vag bleeding not rectal. I made sure that I was not contamination while wiping. I never mentioned the conection to spotting and BM to my Dr, just mentioned the fact that I was spotting - what I thought to be pretty heavy. but at each u/s they everything looked fine, people spot, yada yada.
If there is a more of a direct reason for spotting during BM I would like to know what they say.
Yes - same here. I was always very careful to check to make sure it couldn't possibly be rectal bleeding. And I also wanted to make sure my doctor knew that I could tell the difference, so he wouldn't think I just didn't know my anatomy
The same thing is happening to me. It freaked me out at first (and is still quite annoying/scary)...but i've been to the doctor twice about it and she says it's because I have a sesitive cervix. Even slightly straining when using the bathroom can cause the spotting! She told me to just relax and don't do anything strenuous until the spotting stops, and then once it stops to wait another 2 weeks!!!
