Just got my mail to find a nice little note saying I have jury duty December 1st. It's one of those that if you don't get called in that day you're done with it. I'm more worried about getting called in since we leave december 5th for Disney World. Do you think if I get called in and tell them we have a paid trip that they won't pick me? Can they make me stay and miss my vacation?
Any other time I'd be fine with this but not now.
Re: Fulton County Superior Ct jury duty
I don't think vacation will get you out of it, and I'm pretty sure that Georgia isn't one of the states that allows for exemption due to breastfeeding, but needing to take breaks to pump is definitely something you should mention should you get called into the courtroom. I don't have any great advice on how to get out of it but I can say that I've been called at least 3 different times and never actually made it into a courtroom. Also, if you did get called then chances are good that you would be done prior to your trip on the 5th.
Sorry you have to deal with the bad timing... good luck!

Oh, maybe a vacation can get you out of it... check out this link:

It says you need to submit a request in writing at least 10 days prior to your summons date. Good luck!

Now that i think about it...trips are not a valid excuse. Someone tried to use that one. The judge said So sorry.
Hahaha!!! I don't know if yall watch 30 Rock but there was an episode last year where she had jury duty and she dressed up as princess leia. The only problem was that everyone was dressed crazy so she didn't get out of it.
I'm going to write a letter to see if they will defer it. I don't mind doing it at all just not right before we leave.
LOL Kerrin!!!
Are you a SAHM? If so, you can complete a form saying that you are the caregiver of your child, etc., and get it notarized. That is excusable.

I just had jury duty last month. It is up to the digression of the judge if they let you go or not. They won't let you go just because you are a breast feeding mom as they have a lactation room. The judge let me go because we had a wedding to go to that Thursday in DC and I had no one to watch my son if DH went by himself and I was stuck in jury duty.
They usually ask if you have a scheduling conflict and then hear what it is. They asked me how long I had had the airline tickets and how long we had been planning the trip.
