  • Mine does most of the time.

  • yup. she's been saying it for years. and i say it back bc i really do love her!
  • Not really. When we are leaving she'll say "Love you guys!"  I don't remember her every saying it to just me. I would feel very awkward if she said it.

  • Nope. But I don't think she says it to anyone, even DH. She's not so lovey. Sweet and kind, but not the kind to be all lovey.
  • MIL doesn't say it to me or vice versa.  I would feel wierd saying it back if she did...lol.

  • Yep, all of the time.  But we have a great relationship - I call her Ma.

  • Hmm, I'm sure we've said it to each other, but it's usually in an "I really appreciate you" awkward kind of way.  It isn't common in day-to-day conversation.  I guess I write it on all the gifts though.  It's hard for me to be sappy in person.

I do really love her though, and I call her mom.

  • No way.  I don't even address my MIL by a specific name because I don't know what to call her.  Embarrassed  'Mom' seems awkward to me, and calling her by her first name seems disrespectful.

  • Yes she does and it freaks me out. I usually say "you too" or something awkward like that-anything to avoid saying "I love you too" back. I don't call her Mom either-she is most certainly NOT my mother!

  • We have just started saying it to each other recently.

  • DS's dad's grandpa said it to me back in June when we were hugging goodbye, and it was really awkward. I said it back, but felt weird about it. My mom says it to DS's dad, but it isn't weird because my parents pretty much adopted him back in highschool.

  • Mine doesn't, but I'm not that type of person really.  I get skeevish when people hug me too and dh's family is all about the hugs.  When I talk to his uncle and he says 'love you', I seriously have to force it out to say 'love you too', usually I just say 'mmm mmm'.

Same here.  She never says it to DH, so she's not about to say that to me!  My Mom, on the other hand "Tell DH I love him!  Tell DD I love her!!"

  • I tell MIL I love her, but I don't tell my own mother. My mom has never been an "I love you" sort.

    Exactly this.

  • Only when she is in a really good mood, and usually it involves a little vicodin or some alcohol. Seriously.

  • She doesn't say it to me individually, but if we (DH, DD, and I) are leaving their house they will say "Love you, Love you", sometimes inserting all of our names after the "love you"s.

She doesn't love me so I don't put much stock in it.  She just says it because she has my DH conviced that after all those years of not being able to stand me, now all of a sudden she really likes me.  Then again, maybe it is because DH won't fly to her house with the baby alone and so that means I have to be there, so if I feel loved maybe I'll bring the baby to her house more(?)...but that is just a theory...
