Doctor?s visit once a BFP

Once someone gets a BFP, how soon does she see the doctor for the 1st time?  Does it depend on the doctor/midwife?

 

I?ve read on the internet that the first appointment is usually done at 8 weeks.  However, I?ve seen several girls on here list their HCG levels just a few DPO.  Is it that maybe they?ve had complications in the past and so their doctor wants to see them right away for this BFP, or could it be just their doctor?s preference to see everybody that early?

TTC #1 since June 2009: irregular cycles
BFP 1/20/10, EDD 9/28/10, born 10/5/10

TTC #2 since Nov 2011:
BFP 2/8/12, MC @ 5 weeks; BFP 3/22/12, MC @ 5 1/2 weeks; BFP 9/10/12, MC @ 6 weeks

Started seeing RE Nov 2012. Chromosomal test and all other tests came back "normal". Unexplained MCs. Found mild hytpothyroidism. Two unmedicated cycles, both BFNs. First medicated cycle (clomid, ovidrel) 1/23/13. Low progesterone found during 9DPO P4 test = 7.6. Put on prometrium supplements.

BFP 2/16/13; 2/18/13 (13 dpo): Beta #1=52.8, progesterone=18.7; estrogen = 412; Dr. increased progesterone dosage.
2/21/13 (16 dpo): Beta #2 = 269; progesterone = 32.4
2/25/13 (20 dpo): Beta #3 = 1,236
2/28/13 (23 dpo): Beta #4 = ?? tbd

    With DS, they would not see me until 10 weeks.

    You might get a few answers on here but you would get more on 1st Tri since the majority of us on this board haven't gotten that BFP yet! GL to you!

    I think it varies per doctor, but as a rule, if you have fertility treatments or a history of m/c, you usually get betas done early.

    this question may be better fitted for first try, just because a lot of us have not gotten pregnant yet!

    I have no clue, really. My RE will want to see me right away to do a beta, but other than that, I don't know.

    It varies by doctor.  Mine wants to see me before 6 weeks.

    Oh I'm not pregnant, it really is just a random question that I've been curious about.

    If you have had compliations or are seeing a fertility specialist they will probably see you as soon as you get your BFP.  If you don't have any TTC issues that you are being seen for then it is usually 8 weeks.

    With DD they scheduled me for what I thought was 8 weeks going off the date of my last AF but I was really only 6 weeks (I didn't chart back then).

    Thanks ladies!  I was simply curious since I've seen a lot of HCG levels posted here in the past when they were a few DPO.

    My doctor made an appointment right away, but that was just for a history and filling out paperwork.  I had another appointment at 8 weeks for a physical and pap and one more at 12 weeks.  Doc also gave me requisition slips to schedule my u/s at the hospital.  First one is at 12 weeks.

    I'm TTC my first, and my doctor told me that they will take me immediately after I get my BFP...so I guess every doctor is different.

    When I got my short-lived BFP, they scheduled me two days later for an appointment with a medical tech or something. They gave me blood work and had a goody bag of info and stuff in it (which I didn't get because I had a - urine test). But they said the doctor doesn't see patients until they are 8 weeks.

    I was seen around 6-7 wks because I kept spotting. I also had an U/S, but that was because of the spotting.

    When I told my Dr. I was TTC, she told me to come in as soon as I get a BFP, so she can confirm and make sure I'm on all the right PNVs.
