Anyone else have problems with Elmo Live?

We have only had it for 5 days, and it is already broken.  It won't stand up straight and talks to the floor.  Also, the stomach botton does not work properly.  I think this toy sucks, and it costs $60!

Target's return policy is a PITA and won't take back opened products.  Do you think it's worth calling Fisher Price to see if they can let me exchange it for a new Elmo (even though I don't want it) or a different product?

  • Ours acts dumb like that sometimes. It goes back to normal with new batteries though.

I would be having a fit. If it's *broken* they should let you exhange it. I'd go talk to a manager.

  • I was considering getting this for DS for christmas, but after reading reviews just like this one, I have reconsidered.  I think I will just get him a plush Elmo instead!
  • ours sometimes acts dumb when the batteries are dying.

agreed though- if the product doesn't work, Target should at least allow an even exchange.  If they don't, then call corporate!  They really need to know how horrible their return policy is.  Plus, they sometimes will give you a gift card for your troubles :)

  • I think ours needs new batteries. It stops in the middle of songs and makes strange noises.  I think the batteries are just dead (which means they died very quickly).
  • Well we got rid of the box a few days ago.  Target's return policy says to include all packaging.  Am I screwed?
  • Try changing the batteries if you have not already. Ours looks like he's having a stroke when the batteries are dying, he stops halfway through a song, opens his mouth wide like he's in shock/pain and just stands up. Very upsetting to Adam!

  • Ours also does that when it needs new batteries. The first set of batteries ran out very quickly, but I replaced them and they've lasted a long time since. Try replacing the batteries first, there may be nothing wrong with it.

  • OK, I guess I will try the pbatteries first.  It just seems odd that they would go out that fast.  Maybe it's because they are the batteries that came with the Elmo?
  • Our first set ran out in just a few days too. I haven't had that issue since, so I think you're right, the ones that come with the toy must be already drained when you get it.

  • Fisher Price has an excellent customer service department. We got a train that didn't work and had already been opened. They asked for a couple of numbers off the bottom of the toy (not the box) and sent us a brand new one. They are awesome! Just call customer service and they should help.
