AW - Felt Fruit Question

I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question.

I saw posts about this yesterday, and was wondering how my DS would play with the felt fruit?  I am just picturing him chewing on it.  I am not very crafty, but thought this project looked like a fun one to tackle but wasn't sure if it would just be a waste of time.

Also, I don't have a sewing machine, and again am not very crafty.  Is this something you think I could tackle with little to no experience in sewing?  I thought I would ask you since you seem to be so crafty and creative.  TIA!

Re: AW - Felt Fruit Question

  • I actually have very little experience sewing also.  I picked up my machine in August and did a small project, but it had been almost 10 years since I had used one.

If I can do it, you can.

I think it would be really time consuming to do without a machine, but it is doable.

And I am making them mostly for my older son.  I think right now David would just chew on them too, but I would think that by Christmas, when he is almost a year he might be able to actually play with them.

But I am not making any of the foods with small parts/pods or any of the items with "sprinkles" because they are a choking hazard.

Someone else posted it last night.  I think it was ekolenda.

  • Hey ladies!

Being nosy here.  I wanted to let you know that I started making felt food last night without my sewing machine.  Within an hour I had an adorable strawberry and a half of a grapefruit made.  It was really simple.

Also, I went to Hobby Lobby yesterday and checked the leftover remnants in the fabric section.  I was able to get over 6 yards of felt (in various colors) for $4.

I think we should all post pictures of our felt food shortly before Christmas!

Good to know.  I'm heading to Hobby Lobby at lunch :)
