I have to since daycare is closed (and thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it!). Plus we get dressed up Christmas Eve for Mass and a party at the IL's....so we need time for preperation!

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll get any time off other than Christmas Day. I'm an acdemic advisor at a university. Fall semester grades become official at noon on Christmas Eve, so we have to be there that afternoon to start reviewing students for admission and probation/dismissal. Then we have to be back right away on Monday after Christmas to continue with this (which then goes the rest of that week until New Year's). Ugh.
We have off Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. I think I may take the following week off as well. I'll just need to take off Mon-Thursday, because we have that Friday off too.
My firm always gives Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off, which is wierd because everyone here is Jewish but whatever, it works for me. I take 3 or 4 extra days around that time, so I end up getting around a week off. I come back and work one day (to pick up my paycheck mostly) and then we get New Years Eve and New Years day off. So when you end up adding weekends it is a nice long break from work...
I'm taking off the whole day for Christmas eve. I come from a very italian family and we do the big fish dinner every year. My dad and I have been doing it together since my grandmother got sick, and it is tons of work! Anyway, since it is DD's first Christmas and the cooking will be an all day adventure I figured I should take the time off. My office will be closed the day after Christmas so that won't be an issue.
We have Christmas Eve / Christmas day and New Years Eve / Day off...I fly out on Christmas day...and will returning on the 5th and back at work on the 6th
I am taking the week of Christmas off and going to my parents in PA! I cannot wait. DH will join me on Christmas Eve and we will come back on Sunday the 27th.

I work for a university and we are closed Dec 23-25 and then Dec 31-Jan 1. I really wish I had some extra vacation days to take off the three days of work in between but I don't but I am thankful for the time I do get!
In your shoes, I would definitely take all of Christmas Eve off!
We get all day Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off, as well as all day NYE and NY day off. So I have no need to take additional time off.

Re: Are you taking off time for Christmas?

Definitely take the whole day!
