Our nanny is coming back to work in December when her DD is 6 wks old. She suggested, and we agreed that perhaps it would be nice for DS to be in a nusery school or mother's day out for a few hrs a day 2-3 days/wk so he can play with other kids and she can have a break/get things done around the house. Anyone know of any mother's day out programs in Rochester or other programs that are just a few hrs/day a few days/wk? I checked out the YMCA and unfortunately their programs are for 18 mos and older (DS is 12 mos).
Re: mother's day out in Roc?
Can you explain better? Your nanny wants a break during the week? You pay her to watch your 1 child (and your allowing her to bring hers) and do whatever tasks around the house you assign, and she can't do that at the same time?
I don't want to sound silly here, but I watch 3 kids and do housework (child related). I have never been alone in the house to take a break or do chores. Now 2 are in school FT and the 3yr old is in preschool 2 days (2.5hrs a day), but I don't work during that 2.5 hours. I go in late on ones of the days, picking him up on the way in....and am off all together the other day.
I get a break and do chores during naps, which he still does 2 hrs a day (sometimes I can even get my kiddo asleep at the same time!)! I still do the same amount of work now even with bringing my own kiddo. I am so thankful that my pay has remained the same, and I am not paying for childcare.
I am shocked she would ask for such a thing, and the only thing I can think of that would socialize your LO would be things she would have to attend (Little Gym or Gymboree, story times, etc). Unless you put him in daycare 2 days a week to play with others and give her a "break"!
Maybe I don't understand either. It would seem to me that while paying your nanny, you would also have to pay for your DS to go to one of these mothers day out things. What does she need a break from?
I think most preschools are for 3 and 4 year olds, so i would think to have somewhere for your DS to go during the week, it would have to be a daycare?
