Christmas gifts

I am struggling with what to get the boys for Christmas.  They both have birthdays so close that is makes it hard.  If you wouldn't mind sharing what you are getting for your LO's I'd love some ideas.  Everyone is asking us for lists and I don't even know for sure what I want to get for them!

Re: Christmas gifts

  • We are getting the boys a little table. We are going to make a Lego board that fits the top. We are also going to get them the Cars Geotrax set. We will also do a few small things like movies, pjs, etc.

  • Loading the player...
  • Great ideas Julie, I totally want to get Garrison his own Karaoke machine but Garrett fears that toy.  Not sure if he's worried I'll sing on it more than Garrison or what.
  • More good ideas Jess...
  • We have the same Birthday/Christmas back to back challenge as well.

    For Christmas:

We are likely getting Tyson a trampoline (similar to this one) for our playroom and the LeapFrog Tag Junior book pal (or something similar) and Jacob an Anywhere chair.

My parents have already bought Jake this for Christmas.

  • Besides a few girlie things G probably won't be interested in, I got B a Leapster for her birthday which she loves We only have 1 game but I'm planning on asking for more for Xmas.  I also got her this adorable tool set and am planning to get the spy glass from Land of Nod - free shipping! (I gave my neighbor the tool set for his 3rd last year and his mom says he plays with it daily).

She got a Leapfrog Scribble and Write for her bday which is pretty cool, and a scooter and some roller skates which were big hits.  Lastly I scored some great deals on board games today at TRU - I got Candyland, Chutes and Ladders, Hi-Ho Cherry-O, Ants in the Pants, Cootie, Memory and Hullabaloo.  Total was $34 + tax, I got a $10 TRU gift card instantly and will get a $12 rebate by mail - so $12 + tax total!  Probably win't give them all to her at once but for that price I can save some for a rainy day.

    Good luck!

  • I think we are getting G a play tent with a tunnel. He's also really into making music right now so we might get him some more musical instruments.

  • These dinosaurs have been a huge hit in our house as well if you are looking for something. They are big, hard to tell in the picture. Great for imaginative play outside, inside, in the tub. Ty LOVES them. Unfortunately, they aren't cheap but they would make a good Christmas/Birthday type present.

One thing about that trampoline....Tyson is going to very quickly discover he can flip over the bar or jump over the top of it. It's one reason we're going with a plain exercise trampoline vs the one with the bar.

lol. I hadn't considered that! Good point!

  • So far here are teh ideas for both his birhtday and christmas:

    bike

    playdough accessories

    CD player (fisher price)

    skate board and elbow/knee pads

    a soccer goal

    a race track

    matchbox tracks

art supplies (although you just got a lot of those)

    a cape

more train stuff....he likes the stuff he can take apart and put back together.

Games, games, games.  (He LOVES hungry hungry hippos and the disney fishing game that we have....we'll add candy land, chutes and ladders, antz in your pantz, and don't break the ice.  Cootie took most of my nephews a little longer to grasp so we'll save that for the summer or next winter).

sports balls of his own (he plays with the neighbors)

    big boy cups/plates/spoons/bowls

    new jammies

new bath toys - crayons, games, etc

    his own learning laptop

The leapfrog first reader thing...I can't remember the name of it.

These are all just my ideas - - - the only thing for sure is the bike, the computer, the skateboard, and the cape.

for Big G, what about the little red scooter?  Or a baseball set?

For little G, what about a leap frog table (do you have one???) Or a table top car driver thing (I don't remember seeing Garrison with one).  A new ride on toy that's more for him?

Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

  • I understand the bday & christmas so close, I am having the same problem with Emmalee. Between December & February, Emmalee is going to get Bongo drums, a red wagon, My Pal Violet (They have a My Pal Scout for boys), some teething toys, and some clothes.
  • We don't have the close-together birthday/holiday, but do have a problem in that it seems she already has so much of everything!

L's big gifts this year:  dollhouse (guess your boys won't be into this!), tool bench with tons of tools, and a goldfish.  The first two are grandparents, and the fish is what she wants Santa to bring her.   I also stocked up on board games at the TRU sale, and she will get a couple of those.

Otherwise, we're not doing much because everyone else buys her so much.  But when people ask I am saying:

puzzles (more advanced than she has now)

    books (esp Curious George)

    games

    art supplies/paper

    clothes

    Good luck!

  • We got her some puzzles, books, slap bracelets, fun socks and her big gift is a bicycle.

Ethan I bought his lovey and a couple of teething toys.

  • We're all done Christmas shopping, but I have a few more things to make.  It's all about the kitchen.  Wooden kitchen, ikea kitchen accesories (and got the sterling silver espresso cup sets for cups and dishes for a manlier feel, hehe) felt food I made/making.  Also making J and daddy matching macho aprons.  Got the plan firetruck and some puppets.  Some grandparent got him the learning tower, but I don't know which one!

In one of the toy catalogs I saw a microphone that doesn't use batteries and basically just makes their voice louder some how. I'm thinking something low key like that.

they have those at Target in the cheap toys section!

Man, I wish SweetieP was my Mama!!

  • My mom is getting him a table puppet theater and a puppet family so I'm getting a little furry squirrel puppet for him.

I'm also getting the same folding trampoline as TitansMama (I read about the flipping on Amazon but I'm thinking with good padded carpet, after the first fall, he'll quickly learn how to jump without falling over-- LOL, I'll get back to you all on how that goes).

I'm also getting him some traditional story books- Gingerbread Man, Jack and the Beanstalk, etc and we're always adding to his track bit by bit-- so loose tracks and Thomas trains will fill his little stocking.

His birthday was a couple of days ago and he got a bike, some animals to add to his collection (with a corral), and a floor puzzle.  I'm not sure how many children we will ultimately end up with but I plan to go "big" for birthdays and keep Christmas simple.

  • I am just now getting to all the toy catalogs that came in the mail. Wink I'd like to get the boys a toy workbench/tool bench. Not too sure which one, but I'm hoping the grandparents can work together on it. Otherwise on their list will be jammies (we are trying to make the ones from last year work), some coloring books, story books, and maybe new bath toys. I am clueless when it comes to anything outside the 'big' gift. Wink

That bike is awesome, how did you find a wooden one? I love it. Who makes that?
