How did you go about weaning from the bottle?

DD loves her bottle. I'm afraid it's going to be a nightmare weaning her to only sippy cups. She likes her sippy, but is crazy about the bottle. Where do I begin? Thanks!

Re: How did you go about weaning from the bottle?

  • DS was getting 4 bottles a day. I kept the morning bottle and bedtime bottle and gave a sippy for mid morning and mid afternoon. He did well with that and after asking what others did on here, I just went cold turkey on the morning and night bottle and he's done surprisingly well! He takes all sippy cups with no problems.

He had been taking sippy cups of water for awhile now during meals, snacks, etc. so it wasn't really foreign to him which made it easier.

  • Our DD had been drinking water from a sippy for a while , so we cut out the middle of the day bottles and kept only morning and night. Then one day we ran out of playtex liners and I thought well lets try all cups and see what happens, and it was fine. She never missed them.

  • I'm not really worried about it. She loves her sippy and has finally gotten so good at drinking water from it. Next weekend i am going to try the sippy with formula or maybe even milk instead of the afternoon bottle and see how she does. If you don't switch at a year, don't stress about it.
