Anyone's LO have a bigger head?

At my DS's 1 yr check-up he was 50% for height and weight and 75% for his head circumference.  Dr laughed as if it wasn't a big deal, but now I wonder if he will always have a big head.  It was never this big, but his height and weight slowed down a  little after 9 months, so now it seems big in comparison.

  • 95th percentile

  • Not sure what percentile but her pedi always comments on her big brains growing in there.. lol. DD has a larger head.
  • 97th percentile. He was 50th percentile for height and 30th for weight at his 15 month checkup.

  • I just hate the way the Dr mentioned that too big or too small could mean a problem.. just tell me that when there is an ACTUAL problem, not when it is just a little big.  They get you all nervous for nothing! Thanks ladies!
  • I just want to say you ladies are my heroes for birthing those big heads. Wink

  • At 1 year my son was 25-50% for height and 99% for head, now at 15 months he was 70% for H & W and 97% for head, so his body's catching up. Try not to worry.

  • Big heads run in DH's family and yeah, my DS has a HUGE head. Twice, his head circumference has been in the 101st percentile. I'm not kidding! I don't understand how that's possible, but 101!

  • DD's head is off the charts...way off the charts.  Only in 50th for height and weight.
  • I bet I have everyone beat. Lyla measures under 5% for height and weight, and 80% for head. It took her a bit to get used to hauling it around all the time. However, she is in complete control of it now!
  • DD has always had a bigger head.  When she was born, she was in 3rd percentile for weight, 10th for height and 50th for head circ.  Fast forward to 12 months, she is in 30th percentile for height and weight and over 95th percentile for head circ.  At DDs 12 month appointment, the doctor walked in the room, looked at DD's stats, took one look at DH and then said to DD "Well, my dear, looks like you got Daddy's big head!"  Smile  So, I think it's here to stay.

  • DS has a huge head. Seriously, it's already practically as big as mine. I believe it's in the 99th percentile. We ended up seeing a specialist and having him get an MRI to rule out any problems. He is perfectly fine. Sometimes they just have big heads I guess! DH apparently has a head that is "off the charts" so that's probably where it came from.

I think that doctors tend to get concerned if they see rapid growth that goes straight up on the growth chart instead of following the normal curve.

  • DD was off the charts for head circumference at her 9 month check-up.  She was always in the higher percentile.  She goes back for her 1 year appt. in a month.  At the last appt. the Dr. said we'd keep an eye on it, so I'm curious to see where she's at.

It's a b!tch getting shirts and onsies over her head, let me tell you!
