Rude of you to imply that people who have cleaning people need to "get over themselves and clean the toilets." For me, it is a question of time and money. I have limited time and enough money to pay for cleaning people, and think my time is much better spent playing with my son than cleaning my bathrooms. We are not making a choice between cleaning services and savings for our son. He has everything he needs and then some.
Re: RidesButtons - I am offended
I don't think she was trying to offend people who have cleaning people, but rather she was just speaking of her own experience.
I agree, she was talking about herself, not you.
eta: I need a link...
Edit to my edit: yea, I don't thinks she was being mean or offensive..
buuuuuut, I do get irritated when people are jerks because they are jealous and try to make people feel bad for their accomplishments or capabilities..
This.
Yep. I don't think she meant other people need to get over themselves, just that she has better uses for her money.
Wow. Offended over my personal point of view with my personal toilet cleaning standards. Oh well.
I don't judge people who have cleaning people - I envy them sometimes. I judge myself. For me, I can't justify having a cleaning person because for me it just isn't that big a deal to clean toilets or whatever. It is not a money issue. We've got enough money.
I am happy you have a cleaning person. I hope you are too!
And, FWIW, the deep cleaning gets done after the kids are in bed.
It sounded like it was a money issue - you said that you should get over yourself and put your money in savings for your kids, not spend it on a cleaning person.
I don't think you were trying to offend anyone, and I know your comment wasn't about me, but since when has that ever stopped anyone from speaking her mind around here? I posted my sincere reaction to your comment.
And mine to yours.
The money thing is a personal hang up. I grew up in a very frugal household. So, most things I think twice (and three and four times and more) times about. It ends up always being: I could spend $X on a cleaning person, or I could put $X in the kids accounts and clean it myelf. Kids accounts always wins. I did that with lattes recently too - though that I consider a win-win. I don't need any more lattes - ever.
