TTC After a Loss

I'm back with DS update

Hey everyone!  I have been so busy with DS that I haven't even had time to lurk lately.  Congrats to all the recent BFP's!!!

Well, here is the news on my front.  DS had his autism evaluation on Monday and the Dr. decided not to "label" him yet, but that if she had to it would be between autism and its lesser known cousin Pervasive Developmental Disorder.  We are starting "baby bootcamp" 5 days a week for 2-3 hours a day starting next week as well as occupational therapy.  I have quit my job so that I can be there for him through all of this.  But, because of the money it will cost for treatment and the money we are loosing by my not working, we are putting our TTC on hold.

I have decided to go ahead and finish all the testing that I need to do and get treatment for the PCOS that the OB is pretty sure I have. We are planning to take a few months to find out how DS is going to respond to therapy before deciding if we will enlarge our family in the future or not.

I have really enjoyed my time with all of you, and will miss everyone so much.  I do plan on continuing with my Secret Santa gift, it wouldn't be fair otherwise.  Thank you again for all the love and support I have gotten here over the last 10 months, I don't know where I would be without it.

I'm really really glad that it sounds like you have a great plan of action for your LO.  He is lucky to have a Mother like you willing to put so much into his care and treatment.

I wish you ALL the best in your journey!

  • I am sorry that you are having to put your TTC on hold, but I will tell you from a special ed. teacher perspective, I wish a lot more people were proactive in their child's treatment plan.  This will definitely help him make progress more quickly and make it an easier transition for school.  Best of luck to you and our family.

  • Best of luck to you & your family, you will be missed here.

I think your son is so lucky to have a mother who is proactive in his health care. My DH has a cousin who NOW is a highly functioning autistic 20 year old. His mother (DH aunt) devoted her life to him & his education.
Currently he is a Pratt college grad & a thriving artist/web designer in NYC

Your hard work will pay off
(((HUGS))) I think you are making a great choice
