I had my annual performance review today with my boss.
He was going on about how great I've been doing, etc. (I felt a little guilty b/c I know that I've been slacking lately.)
So at the end he asked if I had anything to ask or to say. I said that it's not an excuse, but I had a m/c in July and I am sorry that I have been slipping on deadlines, etc. and that I have been a little out of it.
I just wanted to let him know for professional reasons that I will be back to normal soon and my work will improve, but he launches into this whole thing about how he thought I was pregnant, and he even asked one of our coworkers. And then told me that his wife had a m/c btwn their two kids. Lol, didn't go down the way I planned it, but he is such a great boss and typically understanding; it was good of him to make it personal and not just all business.
All that to say: now he knows (it was killer trying not to talk about it at work) and I'm glad I have a super awesome boss.
Re: I gave away my secret...
It's amazing, once you share your loss, how often you find that the person you are talking to has gone through the same thing. The biggest club no one ever knew about.
I'm glad you work for such a great guy!
I'm glad that you felt able to tell him your secret. It is a secret club (like the pp stated). I hope that this makes you feel more comfortable at work.
That is great. Sometime support pops up in unusual places.
When we told "our" boss (yes, we work for same co.) the first thing he said was... welll, that's a bit drastic - should't you get a second opinion?
WHAT!? that doesn't make any sense. "Hey Boss, we're having a miscarriage." "Wow, sounds drastic."
crazy. lol.
