Except this is not the basic question, about how much did you DD weigh? My DD is tiny and the pedi often says that she will progress by weight rather then by age so just curious....

DD was 10 months when she started walking, and she was 20 pounds. That's interesting about the weight thing, DD was 20 pounds at 6 months, and still 20 pounds at over a year, so I can't imagine that would have applied in her case.
17 months. He was about 24 lbs. DS has a huge head (97th percentile) and both his pedi and his EI PT said that could have played a role in his gross motor skill delays.

That's really interesting about the weight factor. I've never heard that but look at all the replies - most of the babies no matter their age were in the low to mid 20lb area
a day before 11 months and she's always been in the 80th% for weight... one of our friends has a tiny girl like in the 3% for weight and she just started walking at 15 months.
DS isn't walking yet, and he'll be 15 months on Sunday. However, like another poster's son, he has a big head (off the charts), he's 90% for weight, and 95% for height. I think it's just a lot of bulk for him to try to coordinate and move around! He does cruise and stand on his own though, so I know he's getting there.

DD was about 11.5 months and approximately 19 pounds. She was crusing a lot and using a push toy for months but didn't have enough confidence to let go earlier.

DS is still not walking independently (he cruises with 1 hand without a problem) and he's almost 28 lbs.
He's also 34" (off the charts for height) so I know he's trying to figure out how to carry around all that bulk (and building up his confidence).
Momma to three boys:

Alex - 18mo
Jack - born 2/23/12 at 20w due to ruptured uterus (previa and accreta resulting in hysterectomy)
He only lived here on Earth for an hour, but he will live in our hearts forever.

Not yet. He was in the 50-75th percentile for everything until his 12 month appt and then his weight dropped to 50th percentile but his head and height are still in the 50-75th. He didn't really crawl until 10-11 months and didn't pull up consistently until 12-13 months.
I should also add my friends baby started walking at 8 months -- and I have watched her walk since, it is not fabricated -- and she weighed 15lbs or less. She currently weighs 18lbs and can climb on any kind of furniture and it everywhere!
DD was about 16lbs and was 9 months old when she walked.
DS was about 24 lbs and 10 months old.
I've never heard walking was weight related. I was told it was genetic. Both DH and I walked on the earlier side as babies. My sister didn't start walking until she was almost 18 months old and she now has 3 boys who all waited until 15-18 months to walk as well.
Re: When did your DD start walking?
Steps at 12 months and 20 pounds, but not really walking until 15 1/2 months and about 22 pounds.

DD just started walking this week (steps on her first birthday) she was 19 lbs last month, I bet (hope) she's close to 20 lbs now.
