We had some issues after about 2 years - had it tuned up and replaced the battery, and now it's working like new again. (It's about 4 years old now, but we had some down time in there between when it broke and when we got it fixed.)
I love that I can start it when I leave the house and come home to a vacuumed floor.
It doesn't fully replace an upright, but for maintenance cleaning, it's really great.
Everyone in my family has one - me, my mom, my grandmother and two of my aunts! They are amazing. I didn't get mine until just a few months ago but my mom has hers for probably 3 years and it still works great. We have two dogs so I am constantly sweeping our downstairs hardwoods. Now I just run the Roomba - so much easier!
We have one and I don't like it....more than I do like it.
We have not used it since DS has been here since there are toys all over. And he picks up and moves the senor things that keep it in one room.
It gets stuck on our very low rug. It got REALLY stuck under one of our cabinets once....I thought I was going to have to break off its "eye" thing to get it out. And (we have a dog) it gets really full really fast and has to be empied often.
I like it since it does the vacuuming for me! But I wouldn't use the scheduling option and let it go unsupervised when we were gone and it would just wake be up with all the crashing into things it does if we ran it at night.

Re: iRobot Roomba
I love mine. DS does, too.
