So, I just got back from my 20 week appointment and I gained 7 pounds since my last appointment with the doctor at 16 weeks. I have gained a total of 12 pounds. My doctor said she better not see another 7 pound gain at my next appointment in 4 weeks! She said I'm half way there so I should only gain another 12 pounds. I guess I did eat a few pastries at work that I normally wouldn't have if I wasn't pregnant, so I'll have to be more careful and exercise more too.
Has anyone else been told whatever weight they were at at 20 weeks is half of what they should gain? I'm just worried I'll gain more than what my doctor is expecting.
Re: weight gain at 20 weeks
I'm 21 weeks and up a total of 14 lbs from pre-pregnancy weight. I thought that was a lot and the doctor told me I was just fine because I can gain 35 she said...YIKES! So anyways, I was betting I would gain about 25-30, so I'm pretty much half way there too.
I've gained 7 pounds between each appointment ive had so far..and they havent said anything to me about it yet.

My weight gain progression:
16 weeks: down 2 lbs
20 weeks: up 7 lbs
24 weeks: up 15 lbs
28 weeks: up 20 lbs
32 weeks: up 23.5 lbs
I figure I'm on track for a 30-35 total gain, assuming I don't start retaining a bunch of water.
This is the same for me. I tech. was underweight according to my BMI (even though my primary care physician was never concerned) and I've gained 21lbs at 25 weeks. I hadn't gained a pound until my 20 weeks appointment and then bam. Oh well. My OB told me that he would be happy if I gained 35 lbs. Geez! With my first baby I gained 22lbs total and she was 8.3 lbs. Who knows... I still look and feel fine so I am not worried.
I have a feeling that I will have gained a ton between my 18 and 22 week appointments! I think it's common to have a growth spurt around now.
