I saw a post on the national boards that the Delaware ladies are doing a food drive GTG. I think it's a great idea and think we should do something like that too!
Anyone have any ideas? I've never organized a food drive so if anyone has experience please post.
I know North Park has a holiday party thing on Nov 28th that's free with a donation:
NorthPark?s first HO! HO! HO!
Holiday Party in the Park, Presented by Cadillac Saturday
November 28, 2009 at 5 p.m.
Join NorthPark and Cadillac for a holiday kickoff celebration for families in CenterPark. NorthPark?s famous Santa Claus will host a special story hour before the screening of a kid-friendly holiday movie. The evening will come to a close with the gentle falling of real snow flakes! Additional family entertainment will include face painting, balloon artists and a performance by David Chicken.
This event is open to the public; admission is free with a donation of canned goods or cash to the North Texas Food Bank. Patio seating is available by reservation at Caff? & Ristorante Cibus by Lombardi or La Duni Latin Kitchen & Coffee Studio; open seating is available on the grass.
Thoughts?
Re: Food drive GTG?
I think a food drive GTG is an awesome idea.
I'm hosting Thanksgiving and will still have family in town that weekend, but I could give it to someone else to bring for me.
It sounds really fun and if that date is good for everyone else, don't worry about me. Enough girls live near me that I can send my food with them.
Maybe we should make a clicky poll with dates? Majority rules?
I think a food drive is a great idea ... but I would prefer it not be on Thanksgiving weekend. DH will be working like crazy and my stress level is going to go through the roof with all the family visitations.
I don't see why we can't hold one ourselves at a park or something, and then donate the food in a group name

Cool! Here are some of the items that the North Texas Food Bank is saying they need:
Tuna, Chili, Peanut Butter, Fruit Cocktail, beans, pudding cups, stew, rice, pretzels, vanilla wafers, mac & cheese, cereal bars.

Hee hee, my SIL used to date David Chicken, he's a very cool guy and has won an Emmy for his children's CDs.
