Maternity Undies

So have you bought any? If so where from. If not, did you just up your size in regular undies. Sorry i know its a weird question. Im 26 weeks and i think its time to upgrade to one or the other. Its becoming uncomfortable and tight. Anyone else?

Re: Maternity Undies

  • I got mine at motherhood maternity.  I ended up going up in size.  I wanted to be comfy and not constrained.

  • I'm still in my regular ones but when I was pg with my dd, I just bought bigger sizes and by the end I was in granny panties - the only ones that felt comfortable.  Ugly but comfortable.
  • I bought a size up in regular underwear that don't have tight elastic - they're no-line underwear, and they're super comfy and they fit much better.
  • I never bought maternity undies with DS...I did buy one size up at around 33 weeks...I guess I never considered maternity - I stayed in thongs the entire pregnacy...they were never uncomfortable.
  • I haven't yet...but thought about it.  Think I can hold out another little while

I guess this is the antithesis to "beauty is pain".  LOL!!!

  • ACK!  So glad someone posted on this.  My undies have been driving me nuts!  Even my husband has started to notice the abnormal amount of underwear I've been buying.

My problem isn't so much that they're getting too small in the sides or the rear, but that they're too high--and too tight!--on my belly.  And it's not like I normally wear grannie panties or anything--my usual favorites are the Body by Victoria hipsters.  Still too high.  Munchkin does not like them--he's riding reeeeeeally low.  Plus, I have this bizarre desire to wear only cotton (I'm usually a fancy pants kind of girl), but I still want them to be cute.

I have bought every brand I can think of.  The best I've found so far are honestly the ones that are made for teenagers--I just buy up a size.  They're made to ride looooooow.  Both the PINK line by Victoria's Secret and the xhileration by Target cotton undies have seemed to work for me.  In the PINK line, you just don't want anything labeled "cheekiest" (as obviously the whole point in those is for your tush to hang out).  I like the extra-low rise hipsters and the extra-low rise boyshorts--plenty of room for the baby belly and still enough fabric to cover my rear.  AND the patterns are super cute!

Good luck--I'd love to hear what everyone else is wearing!

  • I bought some Medela maternity bikinis from Gap Maternity. I also saw them last night at Buy Buy Baby. They're super low-rise which pleases my baby who doesn't like to be constricted.
  • My mom bought me some from Motherhood in a 3 pack (they are the seamless kind). I wasn't overly interested but have found they are SO COMFORTABLE. I've heard of people just going up a size too, either way is probably fine, but I do highly recommend maternity underwear. I think these are the kind I have- they aren't the cheapest, but pretty worth it. I get excited when we do laundry and the maternity kind are clean Smile

  • I bought a pack of the cotton/spandex hipsters from Motherhood, and wouldn't trade them for the world!  DH thinks it looks like I'm wearing a diaper, but I don't care- there's nothing to dig in, roll down, or ride up!  I bought one size up and they're a little saggy in the butt (then again, I have NO butt!)
  • Thank you ladies! The ones i have are somewhat low which is where hes kicking it and its just too tight. I will check out those mentioned.
  • I bought a couple packs of maternity undies from Old Navy Maternity and they were super-comfy bikini style and lasted my whole pregnancy, and not expensive at all.
  • I did not buy maternity undies.  I went to Target and got a fuller coverage type in a bigger size around 9 weeks.  Just this week, I went back and got the next size up and they are pretty comfy.  A pack of 6 is $6, so I don't mind having to buy them a couple of times.  Plus, I'll be going back down through them at some point!  And I figure these can be the hospital undies I use and then toss if needed.

  • I got mine at Motherhood Maternity and went up a size for extra comfort....I got bikini undies that were super cute and I love them.  I'll be going back for more soon.
  • The BEST ones to buy are HANKY PANKY!!  They are lace, low rise and one size fits all.  I have sworn by these for almost 5 years now, and every maternity boutique sells them!  Or just get them at Nordstrom or online!
