What to expect from US at 5 weeks?

I have a vag U/S scheduled tomorrow afternoon. I had a chemical pregnancy in Early Oct so we are not sure how far along I am. I got a BFP on 31 Oct. Since technically the bleeding from the chemical pregnancy is not considered your menstrual cycle. By these dates (I was not charting) I estimate to be 5w5d tomorrow. What should I expect to see on US? Will it be too early for a hearbeat? Could you see if twins this early? I am just so ready for it....but dont want to be disappointed if I dont see anything cool tomorrow.

My first one was at about that time and it was really just a little lima bean on the ultrasound. You might be able to see the heartbeat but probably not hear it. I am not sure on the twins part.

A gestational sac and possibly a fetal pole and yolk sac. No heartbeat yet.

Prob only a gestational sac and maybe a yolk sac at 5w5d. Some people have had a heartbeat but very rarely does it happen. I had an u/s at 5w6d and ther was the gest sac and yolk sac. A week later there was a heartbeat. GL!

Honestly, not much. Most u/s completed before 6w are usually just the gestational sac. You may get a glimpse of the baby (maybe) but there usually isn't a HB that early. But at least you get an u/s to make sure everything is okay so far!!! Try not to worry is you don't see the baby yet, it's completely normal and so so early.

Will you be able to schedule another u/s around 7w or so?

I am not sure If I will be able to schedule another one in a couple of weeks. ( I hope so) ...I guess it depends on what they see tomorrow on US. I am so excited. I will probably not drag my husband to this US then. When they scheduled it they didnt really say much about what to expect....so thanks everyone!!

I too got pregnant right after a chemical pregnancy. ?I must have ovulated?extremely?late following it. ?When I went in at what I thought was almost 5 and a half weeks, all they could tell was that my lining was thickened. ?Three days later I went back and there was a sac and the yolk. ?They estimated me at 4w, 5d. ?Another week past and I saw the baby with hb at 5w, 5d. ?Do not be disappointed if you do not see anything. ?Your cycle may be off.

I had my first u/s at 5 weeks & 3 days and we only saw a sac. My next one was 7 weeks & 3 days and we saw the little peanut and saw (and heard!) the heartbeat. Nothing in this world is better. That was more emotional for me than our big u/s at 20 weeks.

I would bring your DH. Probably you will only see a gestational sac, but you might see more. You never know. ESPECIALLY since you aren't exactly sure of your dates.

I had an US yesterday for dating and I was 5w, 6d. Here's my photo. The little dot that looks like it has a tire inflatable around it is it. The top part above the tire was beating - we saw the heartbeat. This was from a vaginal US. My uterus is tipped backward so the tech said I could fill my bladder as full as can be and they probably still wouldn't have seen anything, so we had to do it internally.Hope this helps - good luck!

you can google ultrasound 5w 5 d and look at images.
