Intro...excited to find this board!

My name is Lindsay (obviously). I'm 5w4d. I'm an avid runner and looking forward to continuing throughout my pregnancy. I have my first appt. tomorrow and plan to ask my OB about it. Any other runners on here? I'm hoping this is a fairly active board. I was just thinking about asking the 1st tri board if they were interested in a "Fit Mamas" check-in when I found this board.

So, hi!

Re: Intro...excited to find this board!

  • Welcome and congratulations! I think this is a relatively new board...haven't seen a ton of activity. Perhaps we need to 'talk it up' on other boards?!?!

At 21 weeks here and still running 10 - 12 miles a week. Hope to keep it up though our little boy's head keeps banging into my bladder ;)

  • Hi Lainey....although I live in Massachusetts now I was born in a "little town in North Carolina"

  • Funny... I used to live in Mass! Went to college in Boston and my hubby is from Franklin. hee hee!!
  • I would love to see this board become more active. It could be a great resource during our pregnancies and after, but, sorry, I'm not a runner.
  • I lurk on this board and sometimes contribute but unfortunately just haven't seen the activity I'd expect. I'm not an avid runner but still try to run a bit. I ran about 6-8 miles a week until I was about 5 months pregnant (at a fairly slow pace). I also did kickboxing, weights, eliptical trainer, and hiking throughout my pregnancy (slowing down by 36 weeks). Since you're already a runner, I'd expect your doctor to give you the green light to keep it up. Just listen to your body and avoid sprinting (keep your heartrate at a steady pace). Staying active throughout your pregnancy will make you feel more energized and help you stay positive about your changing body. I felt great throughout mine and I attribute it to staying active. Also, I gained 35lbs and only have 10 more to lose 3 weeks post pregnancy. Good luck!

  • So how do we make this board more active? Have a weekly check in? I know there's the weight loss one, but if people don't need to lose weight but just want to stay in shape or tone up we can have weekly workout goals and post successes. Just a thought... I need to be accountable to someone to get motivated.

ETA: Maybe the weight loss check in is on the Nest.

  • Wait, is this the same Lindsay that loves treadmill running  from H&F Nesties?

If so, hello and congrats!  If not, hello and congrats! Stick out tongue

I''ve still  be able  to run and race during pregnancy. With a modified pace, the baby and I have done two  1/2s, two 5ks, and a 10k.

  • Kirkette, I am a vocal treadmill runner...and I used to be pretty active on H&F....I'm flattered if I'm the Lindsay you remember!

    :)

See, I knew it was you.  Welcome and have a happy and healthy 9 months.  Smile

  • ?

I'm a little embarrassed to post after Kirkette. I'm not an avid runner, but I do like to try. I run 6-9 miles/week and have kept up my normal exercise routine, weights included, with only a few changes. I've slowed my pace and no longer try to push myself to my limits.?

I've run one 5K and hope to do at least two more. So far, no problems at all.?

Happy running and H&H nine months. ?

Don't be embarrassed. You're a runner too, be proud Smile.

Best of luck with your 5ks!

  • I ran into my 3rd trimester.  That that point it became too difficult.  I was happy I made it that far though.  I was able to bounce back to running so much faster after running during my pregnancy.  GL and congrats!
  • I recently have stopped running, but plan on getting back to training for my next marathon after my LO is here. I too hope this board becomes more active.
