WWYD?

I had my 12 1/2 week NT scan yesterday and also saw a doctor due to the weekend's events: Friday I was in the ER with dehydration (12 1/2 hours, 2 liters of fluids and a popsicle later). Saturday I sorta ate. Sunday and Monday: anything I ate has come back up.

When I met with doctor yesterday, she prescribed Phenegran and suggested Powerade, Gatorade, Lifewater, etc.

I take the meds, feel "better", eat, throw up and sleep.

Should I call the doctor in the am or just give it another day to see if it will work?

Re: WWYD?

  • If it were me I MIGHT wait another day.  But I am not sure.  If you are going back and forth about it, maybe call your doctor to ease your mind. GL

  • I might wait another day, but honestly that is what your doctor is there for to help you and answer all your questions. So if you want to call then call. There is no reason to suffer through another day if you don't want to.
  • I would call the doctor first thing in the mroning.  I was in this weekend for dehydration, too, and my doctor said that I should have gone in to the ER long before I did.  If you still can't keep anything down, I think your doctor should know.  You don't want to get so dehydrated that you have to spend another day in the hospital.

Also, I don't know if this would help you, but my doctor said the main concerns right now were that I stay hydrated and keep down a prenatal, not that I necessarily keep food down.  She said babies are perfect parasites at this point, meaning there is very little risk for them to not get enough nutrition at this stage.  She said the prenatal is mostly to replenish my viatmin supplies, not necessarily because the baby needs it.

  • Fluids are the big thing.  The meds for nausea should work right away.  I would call the doctor tomorrow
  • I would call the doctor.  You don't want to get dehydrated again.  BTW my friend has been having some medical probs (not preg related) and she can't keep anything down and has been in and out of the hospital for it.  She has been told that the best way to keep yourself hydrated is to take in very small amounts of fluids frequently.  So she drinks a medicine cup (like the cup that comes with a bottle of cough syrup) full of water or gatorade every 15 min.  It has really helped her and since has not been admitted for dehydration.

  • Uh, you poor thing...I would call the doc.  Hugs...
  • Call the doc you might be one of those poor women who need to be on an IV there whole pregnancy

    Hope it gets better!
