Would you say buying a lower end treadmill is probably a waste if I plan on using it mainly to run? There is just no way I can front the 4-5K for a good treadmill.
I am not a runner. But I have a treadmill at home...we got a middle of the road one and frankly, I wish we had spent a bit more for a better one. If you're going to run, I say spend as much as you can--you won't regret it!
I did a lot of research and ended up with a Nordic Track C2500. It's not low-end or high-end...right in the middle. I think I got mine on sale for about $1K at Sears. My husband put it together and it wasn't that hard.
I've never had an issue and I trained for a 1/2 marathon on it. It comes with built-in programs which is nice, and a fan which I love. Also has the Ipod hook-up.
It's got great cushion and not too bouncy of a board....but enough give to be gentle on the knees, unlike concrete. I definitely prefer to run outside, but it gets cold here in WI and the treadmill in front of a movie in the comfort of my own home is a great alternative!
Happy shopping!
