hospital tour maybe?

So i will be having my son at the pres. hospital here in ABQ, but boh of my DD's were born at lovelace womens hospital so i'm sure things are different. They do tours every Saturday and i was thinking about going BUT i'm sad to say I am worried about the h1n1. My Dr is also inside the hospital but in the office part so i do ge there often but it's the main hospital. They are also no longer allowing children in nor have i had the vaccine. Though i'm still on the fence, i have called around and haven't been able to find a vaccine any way since my own ob/gyn isn't giving them out.

back to the point I really want to tour the hospital, talk about policies ect. but i'm little worried given all hype around the flu this year. I know i have lots of time but i'm trying to plan. i'm just wondering if i should wait till i'm further along before i go walking around a hospital. I hate being this whole  h1n1 thing some days i don't care and others i get paranoid.

  • I think I would still go.  The L+D floor shouldn't have too much H1N1 around - most of those patients would be on different floors.  Also, there is the hand sanitizer everywhere so you could use that after you touched anything.

I go back and forth on how scared I am about the H1N1 thing as well.  I have no idea how I would deal with it if I was pregnant - it's kind of scary.  I'm surprised your OB doesn't have the vaccine too.

  • I don't know if you've tried the public health offices, but that's where I was able to find the vaccine.  I got my shot a week ago at the North Valley location.  Not sure how much supply they have, but you might call around to the different locations, if it's something you decide you want to pursue.  Here's a link that includes contact info for the offices:

  • the worst is that my Dr. office is IN the office part of pres hospital. you'd think they would have the vaccine.
  • I did that tour in 06 when I was giving birth to my Daughter. Its a great tour! Makes you feel a little more comfortable about where you will be. I wouldnt worry to much about the flu. You can always wear a mask if it would make you feel better!
